Covid Update: just if anyone is interested.

Husband -feeling much better. not as tired but still tired. sore throat has not been running a temp for 30 hours. If he doesn't do too much, he is able to stay awake and is actually gaming a little (Elder Scroll on line.) he does have a headache that comes and goes.

I seem to be about 36 hours behind him. Mostly sore throat, tired headaches on and off. Can't concentrate too much for too long. BUT early this morning we had a wicked thunderstorm that really got my sinuses going(drainage) think mucus. No fever but Chills.

I have had people suggest warm sweet tea and I have tried. Unfortunately, the first round of covid really screwed up my tastebuds and unfortunately the bitter of the tea is all I taste and has made me nausea. I am able to handle warm salt water and in fact the warm water doesn't give me a bad sick taste in my mouth. I am seriously thinking of drinking warm water to get water into me. (water taste has been a real issue for me since the first round of Covid.) I can't take citrus flavors like lemon and orange.

Would warm water with honey be a good idea? for the throat?

We are going to get another round of storms tonight. I can take benedryl but it makes me so sleepy. My Alka-Seltzer is gone. Thinking of door dashing but we have door dashed a lot this weekend.

We are hoping by Tuesday to be over it. and we have done nothing but lay around the messy house.

Now to be a shallow b!tch-- I find it interesting that his Step- Mother-in-law actions.. or perhaps lack. When she and Husband's father had covid. I called several times. Husband picked up item they needed drop it off on the porch. I made food and sent them over the food.

She called 1 time so far and nothing. Believe me one day I will post some stories about her.

Please do whatever is necessary to stay hydrated. Dehydration can really make you feel like sh*t. Popsicles? I always think banana popsicles taste the best when I'm sick and I was able to tolerate them when I had my very mild case in June but admittedly, my taste stayed intact. Do whatever works.

I didn't realize it was nation-wide; I haven't found any since around the Fourth of July and I look every single time I go to the grocery store. WTH?

If your taste buds can handle honey, I think warm water and honey would be great for both your sore throat and hydration.
Get well soon.

I talked to my hairdresser who got Covid 2 weeks ago. She is buying bottled water as she can't stand the taste of her tap water which she drinks all the time. Having a lot of trouble with taste. Has lost 8 pounds due to not much of an appetite. Not a happy camper at the moment. Take care of yourselves.

“Alka” implies alkaline pH and baking soda is alkaline.

Alka-Seltzer did, and I belive still does, make a version without the aspirin. It comes in a yellow bow. It was originally called "Alka-Seltzer Gold" - I'm not sure whether it still is.

I hope you recover soon. I think the honey would be good. Sugar is good for nausea, try emetrol if you can get some. And sweet teas with citrus. Vitamin c, a lot, is good if you have chest involvement. I took that when I had double c pneumonia at the beginning. Maybe emergen c? I have trouble tolerating vitamin C and I just ordered a plain powder and put it in my tea then I think. I also was drinking a lot of juice because my blood sugar was crashing all the time so you could try juice, that has a lot of citric acid added usually.

When you're both feeling back to normal, it's still the smart thing to get the latest booster shot. Even if you've had covid, your immunity system isn't as solid without the vaccines.
CVS and other pharmacies are now giving them. Good luck staying on top of this.

out there! I think too many people think that if they had it before it won't be as bad or that if they got boosted it would be really mild. That does help somewhat, but not completely.

It helps hydrate as well as replenish your electrolyte levels. I prefer the baby pedialyte to the adult sports drinks as the taste seems milder.

26. Plain water tasts foul to me when I have a sore throat
Sun Sep 4, 2022, 07:53 PM

Most of the time, I use "water enhancer" mixes (Amazon, natch) and swap them out when I get tired of them.

As for the sore throat, any lozenge or hard candy with sugar can be soothing. If you are taking aspirin, chew it into a powder before you swallow it, it temporarily numbs the throat.

One rather self abusive thing you can do is put a pinch of cayenne into a glass of water. It will float on the surface. Take sips of water. It will hurt like billy blue blazes at first, but by the time you get halfway through the water, it will stop hurting and so will your throat. I usually start late in the afternoon so I can sleep at night.

I'm just getting over a month of flu. It was completely different from Covid, and this year's strain is a really nasty one. Get your flu shot sooner rather than later.

The Covid headache does eventually go away, but he can expect to have sort of an "echo" of the headache for some time to come.

Go ahead and rip step MIL a new one. You're among sympathetic strangers here.

I'm sorry you have to go through all this stuff.

As you both recover, don't go trying to prove anything! Go easy on yourselves! Be kind and indulgent and forgiving with yourselves. DO NOT feel guilty that maybe you didn't get to, or finish, some task, or that all you did was "lay around the messy house." You need to focus on you, and him, and making sure YOU are okay. It's like we all learned with seat belts: get yourself rest up first. THEN see to your kid. You both need to be first in consideration for a little while, as you regain your strength and resilience.

And don't forget: anyone who's bothered by a messy house while you and your husband are recovering from this damn awful virus - may not be worth much of your time or concern. Your friends won't/don't care about anything except you two getting well again.
