Bill Barr, the one-time attorney general under former President Donald Trump, told Fox News on Friday that the ex-president had no legitimate reason to hoard classified material at his Florida resort. Furthermore, he defended the Justice Departments decision to raid Mar-a-Lago, arguing that the DOJ was being jerked around by Team Trump.
As a federal judge decides whether or not to grant Trumps request for a special master to review the documents seized from his property last month, the Justice Department revealed on Friday just how careless the former president had been with state secrets at his private club.
In an eight-page inventory list, the department noted that Trump had casually mixed TOP SECRET documents with magazines, books, and his wifes clothes. One box allegedly found in the ex-presidents office also contained 43 empty folders with CLASSIFIED banners. Federal prosecutors are mulling whether to charge Trump with criminal offenses under the Espionage Act and obstruction of justice.
Appearing on Fox News America Reports on Friday afternoon, Barrwho has distanced himself from Trump over the ex-presidents election lieswas immediately dismissive of Team Trumps attempts to appoint a special master.

Bill Barr says Justice Department likely had 'pretty good evidence' before executing search warrant at Mar-a-Lago
The Department of Justice would not have executed a search warrant Mar-a-Lago unless they had already built a solid case that former President Donald Trump had broken laws related to classified information and the handling of national security secrets, former Attorney General Bill Barr speculated on Friday.
In an interview with Fox News, Barr pushed back on the argument that last month's raid on Trump's Florida resort crossed a line and that there were alternative means for the government to recover top-secret information being kept there.
The Aug. 8 search warrant executed at Mar-a-Lago came after federal investigators determined that, contrary to assertions made by Trump's lawyers, the former president had held on to classified government documents that could, among other things, expose intelligence assets abroad.
"I personally think, for them to have taken things to the current point, they probably have pretty good evidence, but that's speculation," Barr said.

Bolton criticizes Trump's handling of classified information
John Bolton, onetime national security adviser under former President Trump, said the discovery of things like newspaper clippings in the same boxes as documents marked classified displays the former president's "disdain" for the seriousness of classification issues.
Bolton made the comment in a Friday interview with CBS News' senior investigative correspondent Catherine Herridge. On Friday morning, new court records revealed the inventory of records the FBI seized during last month's search at Mar-a-Lago. The inventory detailed scores of documents marked classified mingled with items like photographs, clothing items and newspaper clippings, as well as empty classified folders.
Herridge asked Bolton about the national security implications of the co-mingling of these records.
"Well, to the extent that the newspaper clippings were treated like most people in this country would treat newspaper clippings, it shows a real disdain for the seriousness of the classification at issue," Bolton told Herridge. "In most offices, you would have a very clear segregation of the sensitive classified material locked in safes handled very carefully versus all the unclassified material. This to me is more evidence that Donald Trump didn't give much attention to the sensitivity of the classified information."

I still think Barr and Bolton can go to hell but I'm loving the circular firing squad here.
