I can't believe my voters believe my bullshit. They're idiots.
Long ago Trump once said it out loud. I could shoot somebody on 5th ave and my voters wouldn't care. Trump voters didn't understand he was calling them idiots in that statement.

I've often said that Trump was as shocked as we were that people bought his ridiculous crap. Initially, I don't believe he expected anyone to take him seriously. It was all a branding promotion, which is why he wasn't careful about what he said. Then after all the years of failed business ventures, he was amazed that he'd finally found something that people wanted to buy and in the process he became addicted to power. The accidental president.

(2,043 posts)thanks to Republican efforts to destroy public education and discourage critical thinking and from right-wing media brainwashing. Technology could also be partly to blame. From Forbes:
A foremost concern is the lack of focus, which is not only lowering overall intelligence but affecting our ability to stick with complex tasks and the capacity to make reliable decisions. It's also taking a toll on our emotional intelligence, as we become victims of decision fatigue from too much technological stimulation.
There's a universally growing pressure that what is important now will not be important in 10 minutes. Few people are allotted the time required to dissect and solve challenges, let alone the time to complete tasks because things are changing too rapidly. Technology is changing our concept of time, and we are getting the brunt of the abuse. There's an expectation to solve problems at the same speed as clicking through websites. Additionally, the amount of information online can give those working on a project a false sense of expertise; they read a few lines on a blog and often take action in the wrong direction.

Other articles attribute the IQ decline to environmental factors. So there's another reason why major polluters resist deregulation: trashing the planet is contributing to the dumbing down of the average citizen.
