Does anybody here prefer Donald Trump over Liz Cheney?

This is not an ode to Liz Cheney. I'm not here to sing her praises. And I imagine overall she remains fairly unpopular personage at DU. Understandably.

I asked because I was involved in a silly little hypothetical with friends last night. And it set me to thinking.

Anyway, a hard shell Trumper was just busting with glee and bragging about the trouncing Liz Cheney took in her Primary last week. If you have any interactions with MAGAts I'm sure you have seen how mouthy and proud they ALL are about Cheney getting drubbed.

So, I decided to bust his chops.

And I told him that as of today, right now, Liz Cheney is wildly more popular across America than Donald Trump. And it's not even close.

I told him that, hypothetically, Liz ran against Donald Trump for POTUS she'd beat him like a drum, by 12-15 million votes. And I believe that.

At first he thought I was joking and laughed. And that's the thing, MAGAts are so hiveminded, so encapsulated in their tribe, so insulated from reality, that they cannot perceive a reality where ALL people don't love and worship Donald Trump as they do. MAGAts never leave protected circle.

Then I pointed out to him that every Democrat in America prefers Liz over the Donald. As well as roughly 20% of all Republicans. All the non red hat wearers, all the anti-Trump, and never Trump Republicans.

That bothered him. That stuff never crossed his mind, any of their minds. I told him that Cheney losing in a state that has twice as many cows as people wasn't the flex he thought it was.

Liz Cheney mostly fucking sucks. Agree. But I can't see even 1 Democrat who would take Trump over her.

What do you think?

1. If it keeps tRUMP from running for office, I might be a rePUKE for their primary, write in LIZ.

Funny thing, like her or not, it's one way to completely piss off the PUKES.

tRump on fire in front of me, Cheney with a hangnail, I'm looking for my clippers. He can fry. He should.

AT LEAST she is in favor of FACTS.

You can't have a discussion with modern rePukes who think talking points and tik-tok are the truth.

Since last Wednesday I sure have noticed the many many many people who are trying to convince us Democrats how awful a Liz Cheney 2024 third party write-in candidacy would be for our nominee and our party.

There's a group of people set on telling us how she'd pull more votes from us than from them.

Somebody, somewhere wants the Democratic Party to work against such a candidacy.

Somebody, somewhere is terrified of a Liz Cheney write-in candidacy.

12. I am of two minds on the issue. Better than tRump, yes. But 3rd Party could be a concern.

I certainly would never vote for Liz against Biden or Harris, but ...

More so now with the election rigging and gerrymandering, even if we WIN, they could argue about numbers and use a 3rd party to muddy the waters. Not just her, but any viable candidate makes it more complicated to show our WIN BY A CLEAR MARGIN.

I mean, it kinda blows my mind that 7 million votes over an opponent is even questioned, at all.

would have never been President had it. It been for H Ross Perot’s 3rd party run.
Maybe Cheney can do the same for Trump if he is the nominee.

And I love Bill Clinton. I still do.

But yes, H. Ross Perot had as much to do with Clinton's win than anything.

7. I don't see the logic. Yes, Dems might vote for her in a primary, but...

... voting for her in a general election wouldn't take votes away from Trump. It would only take votes away from the Dem candidate. Am I wrong here?

at least IMHO. Cheney would split the repubs and I don't see her pulling any Dem support at all, not in the general anyway.

it’s unclear to me how many of those there are. They went Biden.

14. And the "nevertfg's" might matter in some spaces.

It's one of those things that makes me wish there was a space in the Biden administration where she could go (and stay until he's re-elected) after her term is up, so that we keep her in this momentum of kicking ass and taking names.

What positions are there that have some a**hat appointed by tRump that would be better with Liz?

IF we can keep building these small coalitions, then maybe we can get rid of the rot and get back to simply arguing about things we disagree about without having to fight fake rhetoric being seen as real.

Hey, maybe FCC is a good place for her to go digging?

Remember TRUTH IN ADVERTISING laws?

What about TRUTH IN NEWS laws? So IF a News program slips over toward opinion or speculation, a pop up automatically shows at the bottom of the program stating that the NEWS PORTION OF YOUR PROGRAM IS OVER OR INTERRUPTED FOR OPINION OR SPECULATION, PLEASE BE ADVISED THESE ARE OPINIONS - NOT FACTS - AND DECIDE ACCORDINGLY WHAT IS VALID.

IF we could get a law like that to at least brand NEWS as FACT BASED or NOT NEWS, only an opinion show, then they would lose legitimacy.

She'd be a great watch dog for that kind of thing.

I'm not discounting that at all. It may be the case.

Would see her as the lesser disgusting option.

She's gun toting and has her Dad and historical Republican values.

DEMs won't vote AGAINST our own for her, any more than we'd vote for tRump, but in many areas where there is a shortage of DEMs due to gerrymandering and disinformation, every vote might count.
