Are you watching the polls today?

If so, shame on you.

DU is a great resource, but if you are sitting at the computer all day today, listening to TV blowhards and obsessing over the next poll, then you are part of the problem, not a part of the solution.

There is something everyone can do. If you can't knock on doors, you can make calls, if you can't make calls, the campaign needs folks to do data entry. If you are unable to leave the house, they can set you up to do a virtual phonebank at home.

Contact the Obama campaign or your local Democratic committee. We can win this thing, not just for the President, but all the way up and down the ticket.

I'll be leaving the house in a few minutes to set up a phonebank, then I'll be attending a Marriage Equality rally, and afterwards, working in the campaign office all day.

Let's get going!

But, I agree. Today is not a time to watch polls. Pardon me though. It is 7 am so I should be excused until 10 am.

I don't do canvassing because of my job situation. I am a manager and in the past I have been canvassing where I had a womans name on the sheet. When I knocked on the door, another manager I work with or even a senior manager answers the door. I can't be responsible for exposing a spouse of someone I work with in my current work environment. We are in a declining business and if there are cuts to personnel, I need to avoid that exposure.

So if canvassing is all they have, I cannot help.

Sad thing, 4 years ago, I was the GOTV lead in my community.

I even had Monday and Tuesday blocked off on my calendar.

watch the polls, listen to TV blowhards and be on DU at the same time. Amazing how multi-tasking works, isn't it?
