Transmitting.
We know some of the documents found were extremely sensitive, labeled above top secret, and possibly defense secrets. The DOJ either has evidence or is searching for evidence these secrets were shared. Commonsense tells me other national security agencies must now be involved. DHS, CIA, DOD, CID, etc.
Of course Trump is acting like this is no big deal, that's how he operates. It is beyond my comprehension how Republicans in congress are defending Trump and acting like this is no big deal. They are gaslighting and that could back fire big time.
The possible charges listed in the warrant are very serious. Obstruction of justice is one of them. That should be easy to prove. If the DOJ has proof these documents were shared that is a game changer. If they have proof documents were destroyed that is a game changer.
All of Trumps excuses are worthless. No one can take top secret documents home with them under any circumstance. We still don't know what they found in Trumps safe. I have a gut feeling this investigating is going to get a lot worse for Trump. It is time our national nightmare comes to an end. That happens when Trump is indicted and convicted.
By the way, there is one way to forever end the debate on whether or not an ex-president can be indicted. By indicting Trump. It is time to end that debate.

(6,870 posts)Trump will coat tail fewer GOP votes for congressional offices if he's indicted. Even fewer if he sports new orange lingerie.
It's not only about defeat, it's about abject humiliation. Enough to keep these cretins under their rocks for decades. Saves rubber bullets and wear and tear on the crowd control shields.

(2 posts)I prefer a much slower political death hand him another loss in 2024... one thing Trump can't deal with is losing. I like are chances the two time presidential election loser (2016 popular vote) especially with all this baggage. Third times a charm

He is hoping one of his genius followers will come up with a brilliant solution to get him out of the trap he is in.

(58,766 posts)Full stop. The docs were at Mar-a-Lago. That is a crime for starters.
From there, it gets worse.
Now, there still may be no direct connection to trump, but he's the boss. He's the owner/manager of the site, and the chief resident.

(4,913 posts)Trump and his lawyers knew the documents were there and it looks like they lied and obstructed justice.

(9,274 posts)and another can of beans. Don't get me wrong, it will be great to have him convicted and locked away (hopefully), but we are not nearly done with this nightmare. It will be a big step to correcting this country and getting it back on track.

Julius Rosenberg (May 12, 1918 June 19, 1953) and Ethel Rosenberg ( September 28, 1915 June 19, 1953) were American citizens who were convicted of spying on behalf of the Soviet Union. Wiki

(23,309 posts)in defense of that orange maggot. I was driving home from the west side of Michigan yesterday. There is a 'residence' near where I stayed that is a conglomeration of dilapidated buildings and a school bus that is incorporated into one of the buildings. It looks like someone lives in the bus. The biggest pile of shit you have ever seen. Across the face of every building, they spray-painted signs in huge letters. Angry, threatening messages in support of tfg. This is his base. Probably don't have 2 nickels to rub together yet they probably have sent the supposed 'billionaire' money to 'stop the steal'.

(9,897 posts)The Y'all Queda brigades will be eliminated in time for lunch. Their "fortified" positions cannot survive a Hellfire missile strike from drone or Apache. Their "bunkers" cannot repel heavy armor or tank divisions. Their supply lines and reinforcements and command structure are non-existent.
In open combat, I wouldn't give them as good a chance as the Iraqi Republican Guard (who at least had tanks and planes, if not he will or ability to use them). The talk of "this is 1776 again" is also blow-hard foolishness. IN 1776, the weaponry on the field was at least close to equal in terms of firepower. In 2022, any force opposing an American battalion or even a Special Forces team with air-support is going down and going down hard.
The police in Uvalde may be afraid of one guy with an AR-15...but the drone operator at Langley does not have any fucks to give about incinerating entire compounds....here, Iraq, Afghanistan, Congo....on a video screen from 3,000 ft. up with guidance and targeting data, it all looks (and explodes) the same.

(3,408 posts)That bull that an ex-President has to be treated different is a defeat to the "Rule of Law" and "No One Is Above the Law". A crook is a crook and a crook must be made accountable for his crimes.

(9,897 posts)If he were ever assassinated or died under suspicious circumstances (shit, even he chokes to death on camera with a rubbery, well-done, ketchup-soaked piece of shoe leather/steak on camera), he would be a martyr forever to the cause of nationalism and hate...aside from the horror of public assassinations period, THAT outcome simply cannot happen.
Trump's death MUST be of natural or accidental (passing out and breaking his neck while falling in the bathroom for example) nature and NOT an intentional act of anyone, ever. Once he is dead, I want him to cede into the crevasses of historical warnings and never again be mentioned in polite company.
But...once his heart explodes or the clogged arteries choke the life out of him, THEN the national nightmare can begin to end; and something can be salvaged from the current system to build a better, more resilient one in the future.
So many things must be codified and written into law instead of remaining traditions and expectations...the charlatan that is Trump exposed them all and they MUST be cleaned up, but while he breathes and leads the cult, there will be no changes.

(1,693 posts)Agree. The last thing we need is for TFG die from anything but natural causes. Any other departure would send the MAGA morons conjuring up all kinds of brainless shit blaming all the libs, commies, socialists, BLM, FBI, or anyone else they can dream up.

Prove he is a traitor and liar. I think Garland can do it.
When Faux news cant defend his actions it will finally be over.

(53,410 posts)under the bus on this. Desperation must be settling in right now and we know he will do anything to deflect the law coming after him. Some of those people who have talked to the 1/6 committee will probably be the first he betrays.
I think he would hand over his own kids if he got that desperate. He wont go down if he can help it, no matter what it takes. Im expecting a blood bath soon.
