Who keeps sensitive documents and a safe in a basement of a narrow coastal barrier island property?

.

This is something that's been piquing my interest since it's been revealed that Trump stored sensitive information on a barrier island?

I had a relative who owned an Ocean City, NJ property and it was one of only six homes high enough for a basement, and even that would get hit with water encroachment when there were storms. Most of the houses were elevated a foot or more just to prevent water entering when it just rained. Sections of Ocean City would stay flooded for days after a storm.

I mean there is NOTHING to protect it from storm surges from hurricanes. Look how narrow the island is.

These are probably waterproof. That said, the place isn’t on very solid ground and a large hurricane could pretty well destroy it.
