Deny everything and blame someone else.
Start a narrative (lie) before the fact, to have an excuse.
Always have an antagonist. Demonize them. Make them an enemy.
Always make it between "us" and "them".
Never show any shame.
Always be ready to lie.
And then lie some more.

That is.....
Promptly confess to wrongdoing,
Make amends to those harmed while asking for forgiveness,
Be unselfish and giving, and
Always be truthful.
Please tell me again 'cause I forgot: what was that connection Republicans have to Christianity?

(22,034 posts)5. and never comply with a subpoena. see also "DARVO"
also "DARVO" 1. Deny 2. Attack 3. Reverse Victim & Offender. (this term has recently gained popularity since the johnny depp/amber heard trial but it applies to trump also)
An abuser (or alleged abuser) denies the abuse ever took place, attacks the person that alleged abuse (often the victim) for attempting to hold the abuser (or alleged abuser) accountable for their actions, and claims that they are actually the victim in the situation, thus reversing what may be a reality of victim and offender. It often involves not just "playing the victim" but also victim blaming
Alleged examples of DARVO in public events include:
The behavior of former United States President Donald Trump in defending himself against sexual harassment allegations, as well as in defending himself against allegations of his other wrongdoings

also one of the footnotes in the Wikipedia article goes to this:
James elaborated on how Trump is so effective at hurting people.
"Trump is widely regarded as a malignant narcissist; twisting the truth, gaslighting and bullying," James explained. "Trump uses DARVO - a blame-shifting strategy used by abusers including narcissists: 1. Deny 2. Attack 3. Reverse Victim & Offender. He used it against 20 women who accused him of sexual assault. He's also used it to claim the Democrats were trying to steal the election he won by a landslide."
