On Twitter and other winger sites, they say they have their stocked-up ammo ready to go to war. So when they start, who is it that they are going to kill? Government people? Or is it the people who have Biden signs in their yards? Maybe it`s people with Biden stickers on their cars. The part I don`t get is that do they really think they are just gonna be walking around shooting people without any opposition? Some of these fools are ex-military. A lot of them are not. When the lead starts flying, they will be pissing their pants and crying for their mommy.

(9,008 posts)but it is scary what a gun can do in the wrong hands.
Hey, I've got my weapons ready, just in case, if they are stupid enough to start something.

(15,382 posts)A letter to the editor I wrote caused much ire with a white supremacy group, and they sent me a copy of WAR - White Aryan Resistance with some juvenile insults written in the margins. If they thought I would be scared they were wrong as I had done my high school senior project on the increase and decrease in such groups over the years and the reasons behind it. I recognized them right away as being comprised of old fat bubbas who go drink in the woods then shoot their empty can while day-dreaming of a coming race-war that they can get in on the coattails of after the shooting has stopped (presuming their side won). I feel a lot of the people calling for civil war are like that. Unfortunately, it only takes one crazy to have yet another mass shooting.

(3,622 posts)A letter to the editor regarding freedom of the press in covering it resulted in all kinds of retaliation.
Another porn related sting got a letter from me resulted in more harrasment.
Then a column regarding drug law enforcement and my response was strike 3.
I left and have never looked back.

(15,382 posts)One of our congresscritters at the time, Don Nickles, was trying to blame Ruby Ridge, which happened in 1992, on Clinton. I simply corrected him... snidely and sarcastically. I have no idea why that set the bubbas off.

(68,576 posts)during my back-to-nature/save the marriage phase...I had no phone or way to contact the police. So when these losers showed up on my property...I had a baby and a no-good (now ex) husband who was rarely home. I pulled out the guns and ordered them off my property. They laughed. I had a couple of handguns, a rifle, and a shotgun.
Lucky for them, I grabbed the shotgun to scare them. I was good with the rifle. I had not shot the shotgun as it had a powerful kick. But I aimed in the middle and pulled the trigger. it bucked up so I didn't get a good shot. But there was some blood so I know I winged someone. No one died or I expect the police would have shown up. They immediately got in their trucks and left. Now I know the right thinks the left is cowardly and all but, it is not true. I would have killed every one of them to defend my baby. I was glad though that I didn't have to.

(30 posts)1. I hope they continue yapping. Their threats are being monitored.
2. I don't believe them. Same people who said guns were to protect against government tyranny and did NOTHING when 51% of the population had the government literally claim to take ownership over their bodies. They are cowards and liars.

I agree with your sentiment as well. Fighting Nazis was never something I saw myself doing in my 20s, much less now that I'm in my mid 50s

(7,398 posts)effective strategies after that, as a whole. I do think there are some cells that would be tight knit and extremely dangerous. There will also be a lot of lone wolves. but the MAGA nation as a united force....nah. I can't see that long term.
I just worry more about infrastructure, hospitals, water, food distribution networks, etc, being hit. Some public figures perhaps.
But back to organizing....these folks can throw a boat parade or a demonstration on pretty short notice and they have had plenty of practice. So best not to sell them short in that regard. Can that mentality be maintained is the question, especially in the face of law enforcement. But that is where things can get hairy again. What do law enforcement agancies do in various parts of the country? Those groups do have discipline and fire power. What side do they end up taking? Here in Florida it has gotten really hard to say.

(4,616 posts)Boat Parades. Yeah, they may be able to assemble pretty easy, but the actual doing. Well... They definitely aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer.

(5,494 posts)Yeah, yeah: The militias in the woods are indeed a bunch oh tubby goofballs. Im more worried about terrorist attacks, or, rogue governors taking extreme measures / using extreme rhetoric.
People laughed at the Confederacy too, then, Antietam happened. I assure you they will not be calling for their mommy. They and their rhetoric is dangerous.

(7,096 posts)So if there's "civil war," it's likely to be more like stochastic terrorist attacks -- mass shootings (and it's not like that doesn't happen almost every day anyway) and maybe some bombings.
And it's not like these MAGAt dumbfuck Nazis can march on DC and take over -- they already tried that and failed.

(12,377 posts)but of the 30% who are hard core MAGAt's, a very small portion will pick up weapons against the American people, IE: the Govt and fight, of that very small percentage, most will either be killed/wounded/arrested or crap their pants and run home to mama's basement and cower in fear once the shooting starts and rounds start coming their way.
Most are wanna be warriors who were raised on video games such as Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, etc, and think that's the real deal and have never experience actual combat, while those that actually have will be put down PDQ.
IOW, most Trump supporters are all hat and no cattle other than taking to the internet and expressing their faux outrage.

First Speaker
(4,858 posts)...it is an eye-opening, and very depressing, book. He basically says that the country could well devolve into mass violence, and that if it does, the military might not be able to stop it. His argument is, if the army couldn't put out a rebellion in Vietnam or Afghanistan, what makes anyone think they could in the US itself? And that the violence would be real, and not limited to a bunch of beerbellies with their Walmart specials...that in much of the country, for instance, local law enforcement would join those going after "liberals". It's a nuanced book, and very pessimistic. It's worth reading...
