This is from a letter of resignation he never delivered. He felt he could do more good on the inside:
Third, I swore an oath to the Constitution of the United States and embodied within that Constitution is the idea that says that all men and women are created equal. All men and women are created equal, no matter who you are, whether you are white or Black, Asian, Indian, no matter the color of your skin, no matter if youre gay, straight or something in between. It doesnt matter if youre Catholic, Protestant, Muslim, Jew, or choose not to believe. None of that matters. It doesnt matter what country you came from, what your last name iswhat matters is were Americans. Were all Americans. That under these colors of red, white, and bluethe colors that my parents fought for in World War IImeans something around the world. Its obvious to me that you dont think of those colors the same way I do. Its obvious to me that you dont hold those values dear and the cause that I serve.

Nothing service-related should ever be mentioned in conjunction with that clown except to say that he skipped out on serving in the military, when far better men died over in Vietnam.

These are OUR people. End of story, shut your mouths. (add a few cuss words for the full effect)
My dad was first generation Irish American and his Irish born immigrant parents were prejudiced against non whites and non catholics.
But my Dad wasn't having that crap when it came to his beloved Air Force.
Everyone was mission critical and kept the planes in the air. Period, no discussion.
Rank was not so much an issue either in the Air Force. The lowest ranked AF person kept the planes flying. The mechanics, the guys who fueled up the plane. The guys who made out the schedule.
My father flew combat in WWII, the Burma Hump. Sometimes the planes were just a bucket of bolts, a tin can with wings. The mechanics kept the planes in the air with spit and a prayer. So race, creed, color or rank didn't matter. They were saving your life.
