(21,163 posts)CNN is so scared to report the truth they have major both side ism reporting. The only time I watch if theres a major disaster.
gratuitous
(82,849 posts)They had a report about the plight of employers right now in hiring and retaining good employees. Some employers are having to resort to . . . brace yourself . . . paying higher wages. I know! Horrifying. They talked to a fellow in Florida who was working as a paralegal. He started looking around, and found a firm that would pay him more and allow him to work remotely. And instead of loyally staying with the firm that paid him less and was more demanding of his time, he . . . I can hardly type this, he . . . [choke] he . . . [sob] he LEFT to go work for the other firm! And the old employer was powerless to stop him!
So you can see why the popular media outlets are in high dudgeon.

(11,276 posts)The Media is not a friend of the people. My T V viewing is mostly Netflix and Hulu and some you tube. The commercials on cable are too much to take for me.

(16,426 posts)Anything I watch that's not on a streaming service gets recorded on the DVR, so I can fast forward through the obnoxious commercials.
Even the ones that don't start out obnoxious usually GET obnoxious after a few viewings. Those Medicare things are the worst, but I can also do without Jane Seymour's crepey skin cure, the FeldCo window guy, and the ultra perky AT&T girl. And don't even get me started on all the prescription drug ads. *gag*
And that Liberty Mutual commercial with the minions. That ear-splitting noise always makes me grab frantically for the remote! 🙉
The DVR is a real sanity saver sometimes.

(814 posts)Heard the "Marketplace" report on NPR this morning. The host (can't remember his name) conveyed his disappointment that the jobs numbers didn't jive with the narrative of us being in a recession through his tone of voice. He was completely downcast about that.

(17,006 posts)said if people can pay their bills they need to get a different job. Ok

(5,844 posts)See if your cable carries it. If not, you can download their app to your phone and to your streaming services.
THEY ARE UNBIASED. I know that's really hard to believe, but they just simply report news; not opinion. And their news readers are not "personalities," they are competent and they just read the news. In addition, they report on some feel-good stories, human interest stories, and stuff you never see on the opinionated news shows.
I'll watch msnbc when there's breaking news and Jan 6 news, but I can't stand watching it regularly. I switch to Newsy and am always amazed at how refreshing it is to have real news, just news, and not opinionated garbage by "personalities" who would rather hear themselves pontificate than let their guests talk.

(9,076 posts)Nothing happening on cable is particularly informative. A 30 second article read will provide more information. Feels like every day here consists of people watching cable all day and getting mad about it.
If people stop watching, they'll have to alter course. Ratings matter. Fox has a massive Democratic viewership. I get hate watching (I think that's more or less how I'm still with Westworld at this point), but eventually you're complicit and responsible for content through your willing participation.
I'm stuck at my desk 10-12 hours a day (Although today is my last day of summer semester! Can I get a wewt wewt!). I just sift through YouTube every morning and create a list of things to listen to. Documentaries, deep dives into topics that interest me, podcasts, etc.
Zero anger throughout the day. Also, I get to listen to actual educated people and not constantly think, "I'm pretty sure I know more about this subject than them. How much are they getting paid?" Which is always a bonus.
Cable news people are not hired for their expertise. They're hired either because they look good or they know people. The media are not sending us their best. That's not how that money scheme works.

And the number of people here who regularly post Fox News crap? I just don't get it.

(4,845 posts)It's also the MSM news article writers. For over a year, every good economic data has to be written with the "future economic fall off a cliff". They have been cheering on a fall and brainwashing people to "feel" the economic anxiety (the inflation didn't help either). That's why you have many American who are earning more money, have more money in the bank but somehow, they are feeling the "economic anxiety".
I am not saying it's all the MSM fault. The inflation is real and affect people greatly. But the cheering for the economic is definitely a contributing factor.

Hilarious that people are cheering the prices today that would be unimaginable a year or two ago.

(7,282 posts)I do Roku for all my television viewing, all news channels I use only free apps. I subscribe to Netflix, Prime Hulu and some Library services among a couple of others like Acorn. But as for the news, I go to Haystack if needs must.
There are no monthly or annual service charges for a Roku Tv or Roku device. hundreds of free apps.
Highly Recommended for your mental health.
And you should be sick of this shite from the media.
Cut the cord and be forever liberated.

(21,360 posts)The main shareholders of COMCAST are BlackRock and Vanguard.
I only watch Nicolle, Chris, and Rachel, and Mehdi when they let him fill in.
I listen to real news on Sirius radio.
Just look at the truth tellers that MSNBC has fired; Dylan Ratigan, Keith Olbermann, Ed Schultz, Melissa Harris-Perry, Martin Brashear.
