(17,262 posts)Once the She-Hulk storyline taps out, they'll open a new universe with Doctor-Hulk. Then after that, new universes with Doggy-Hulk, Purple-Hulk, Baby-Hulk, Spiderman-Hulk, Ant-Hulk, Aunt-Hulk, and Ain't-Hulk. And I've just done their complete creative work for the next 22 years.

(153,697 posts)but this is just sheer fucking OVERLOAD - it's getting harder and harder to find a quality movie that isn't Marvel super hero or cartoony crap, ugh

(26,292 posts)To folks who like it. It is entertainment, nothing wrong with liking it. You don't like it, so don't watch it. Quit being dismissive and insulting and micking about people who do like this.
Not a good look for you, sincerely.
I don't understand why people think they have a pass to snark about what people like to eat, read, watch, listen to.

(18,524 posts)I do have a guilty pleasure, though. Star Trek. All of it, good bad and in between.
Skittles
(153,697 posts)but I absolutely hated Star Wars, and I find the Marvel super hero stuff just plain juvenile.

(5,032 posts)thanks to Fiege. And there is some really solid character development in the movies/series.
I get it isn't for everyone, but your pretty dismissive of a massively popular movie set. Also, comics have some great writers and these movies are pulling from those comics.

(153,697 posts)I do care they seem to have taken over to the point it is much harder finding a non-CGI dominated film to see.

(5,032 posts)Nope just opened this week. I'm going to stream Everything All at Once tonight since I didn't get a chance to see it in the theatres. Where the Crawdads Sing is getting a lot of praise. Black Phone looks like some solid horror and I love Ethan Hawke. Elvis is getting a LOT of Oscar discussion already. Downton Abbey put out a new film. And that's just pretty much what is currently in the theatre. Sounds like you might not be looking hard enough.

(19,521 posts)This looks good.
And there are already almost that many versions of hulk in the comic books. Red Hulk will appear sometime I am sure, but I'd really love to see Grey Hulk in a darker show. Grey Hulk is when Banner gets caught half way between, so he retains most of his intelligence with less than half the strength. He joins the mob as their muscle.

(26,292 posts)The character has been a part of the Marvel comics for a while, and the character is a very strong, brave, and ethical woman. An excellent entertainment role model.

Sympthsical
(9,238 posts)I guess we'll see when the final product drops, but if it's Tatiana Maslany, I'm watching. That woman is walking charisma.
Just caught the first episode of Ms. Marvel last night. I'm not sure how I feel about it. The production design is super well done (the texts and thoughts/fantasies on the background walls is inspired). I think Kamala's mother ruins it for me a little. She's just so . . . much. Everything else is promising, but the mom being so over the top overbearing. And it isn't the actress - it's the writing. Like they needed a giant wet paper bag parent for a teenager, and she won that lottery.
The guidance counselor was hilarious, though.

(12,737 posts)It's not just a superhero show, there's a lot of positive family and real traumatic history that touches on some of the impacts that generational trauma can affect immigrants and those left behind.
Sure, there's some silly teen stuff and some beats don't hit the mark, but overall, the show is deep for a simple comic book show.
That's one of the things I like about Marvel content when it's got good writers. Marvel tries to be about people who are superheroes and that impact on their relationships and surroundings. Not just superheroes saving the day.

(9,238 posts)I'm going to keep with it when I have time.
One of the things I knew going in is that this was more geared towards young adults, so I adjusted my expectations accordingly.

(3,617 posts)and to date, I haven't been disappointed by anything in the franchise.
This one has fun written all over it (plus my few extra giggles from me towards the mra fanboys' inevitable grouchy quibbles is always an added, though guilty, entertainment).
