Steve Bannon pledged he'd go 'medieval' at his trial -- but it hasn't turned out that way

Former Donald Trump campaign manager Steve Bannon promised that he would go "medieval" in court once he was going to trial for his contempt of Congress case. While he never fully explained what he meant by that, the case appears to be closer to medieval torture than a medieval knight.

Already the judge in the case has suggested that Bannon accept a plea agreement and Bannon's own lawyer admitted that he has no defense. Bannon's own podcast declared him guilty while he was in court Monday.

Jury selection began Monday and while Bannon pledged to make his trial the "misdemeanor from hell" for President Joe Biden, that has yet to manifest into reality.

Hey Bannon you do realize that your trial is going the way it was in "medieval times" right....you do realize that the Constitution is somewhat runs parallel to the Magna Carta............

Ordinarily I would consider that to be in violation of the 8th Amendment given the crime he's charged with. However, I will gladly make an exception if he truly does want to turn the trial into a medieval one.

By "going medieval" he means when he's found guilty he wants to be beheaded with an axe.

"Mr. Bannon, as much as it would please me to sentence you to that, the federal sentencing guidelines only allow me to hand down a 240-month sentence. Like it or not, twenty years in the federal pen is as bad as it can get for you."

It was 90F in DC today.

Ewww. Bet those shirts can walk away by themselves - assuming he even takes them off when he crawls into his dumpster for the night. He's a human compost pile.

Weird dude.

Not bathing is something he has in common with Mediaeval folk. They washed their undergraments (or the woma9n who drew the short straw did), but immersion bathing in a cold climate was not a particularly good idea.

One of Ruth Goodman's colleagues put this to the test, chainging undies daily for 6 months or so, and found it kept him reasonably fresh.

I think his Hail Mary pass on this one was hoping for a jury of his actual peers, zealots, fascists, and Qbots.

Let's see if that worked for him.

He's counting on one MAGA juror at least who would never convict him no matter what the evidence so he'll go free.

This could be an early test of Trump's trial.
I know Voir Dire is supposed to prevent biased jurors but each lawyer only has a limited amount of strikes. If there are more MAGA jerks in the pool, one or more could easily become a guarantee that Trump's stooges go free.

Sad!

Wait; is that the word I want - "Sad"? Let's see, Bannon's mouth wrote a whole bunch of checks that his ass can't cash. No . . . no, that's not "sad" . . . it's uhm . . . not sad . . . uh, oh yeah! Fucking hilarious.

Like they say in the Almond Joy commercials: “indescribably delicious!”
