Idaho GOP will not criminalize miscarriage

https://idahocapitalsun.com/2022/07/16/no-exception-for-life-of-mother-included-in-idaho-gops-abortion-platform-language/

The 2022 Idaho GOP convention has ended, and it turned out about as well as expected.

The term "atrocity" comes to mind.

Get to know the name of Scott Herndon well. Herndon is an extremist from Bonner County who makes Paul Hill and Scott Roeder seem sweet and gentle. If you've ever been to Idaho's Kootenai County Fair you'll have seen a HUGE booth advocating the abolition of abortion. Herndon and his family run it. He's currently running unopposed for the state Senate, having unseated a long-term senator in the 2022 primary.

Well...Herndon cooked up a plank to the party platform that is so extreme not only does it not allow abortion to save the mother's life, it also criminalizes miscarriage. Fortunately slightly cooler heads prevailed and they amended Herndon's crap to take out the miscarriage crime. However, women will still die of ectopic pregnancies here.

In slightly good news, the platform no longer declares President Biden didn't win the election.

Every summer they have an event up there called Festival at Sandpoint. They bring in good bands - https://www.festivalatsandpoint.com/past-headliners will show you the list of everyone who's ever played this - and have a really nice couple of weekends.

Many of the artists who they hire have an ironclad rule: no guns in the audience.

Naturally, Herndon sued to force the organizers to allow guns on the property - which, if he would have succeeded, would have killed the festival.

You know you're scum when you need to be armed to watch a concert.

Just how can it be permitted that women cannot terminate an ectopic pregnancy?

Dobbs is on the podium with Dred Scott and Korematsu as the worst cases ever issued by the court.

I opted out of childbearing but have many friends who miscarried, sometimes 2-3 times, before completing their families.

Romania is the model that those states will follow. Abortion banned, contraception banned, women's cycles closely followed.

It's mostly a gigantic land mass with a few people. It has 1/5 of the population of Minnesota, and only 1 million more people than Washington DC, which isn't a state.

Having so few people is a breeding ground for crazy people with whacky beliefs like these idiots at the GOP convention. We may mock them, but they get 2 senators who have the power to block critical legislation that improves our lives and protects our rights.

Our democratic experiment is failing.

More like a gathering place. Huge numbers of serious RWNJs have left good states like California and moved to eastern Washington, eastern Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.

In the process they’ve turned this place into California without liberals.

I’d be in jail is this asshole had his way. I’ve had two, one of which nearly killed me.

We are truly in another Dark Ages. I fully expect some states to make a woman and her doctor prove the circumstances concerning a miscarriage. This is a minor victory, at best.

Wait, don’t tell me. These clowns think etopic pregnancies can be removed and inplanted into the uterus, amirite?

In Ceaucescu’s Romania the secret police investigated all miscarriages as if they were illegal abortions. Communist secret police are even less friendly than they’re portrayed in the movies.

I figure that if we keep going down Romania’s path we’ll get Romania’s results: after a couple years of increased childbirth we’ll see a very steep decline because penis-in-vagina sex will become a thing of the past for people who don’t want children.

Declining population rates — when is what they also rail against. When both young men and young women seriously looking into sterilization, what else could be the result?

There are so many more potential unintended consequences here. Well, the right wanted it, and they got it.

Rep. Dorothy Moon does not believe President Biden is legitimate, and her equally insane husband is a national director of the John Birch Society.
