Republican Sen candidate, John Koster, calls aborting rapist's child 'more violence on woman's body'

OLYMPIA, Washington (Reuters) - Tea Party politician John Koster, the Republican nominee for a hotly contested congressional seat in Washington state, says he opposes abortions, even in cases of "the rape thing," because it is tantamount to inflicting "more violence onto a woman's body."

The Snohomish County councilman made the comments during a weekend fundraising appearance in the Puget Sound city of Everett, north of Seattle, that was captured in a recording released on Wednesday by the liberal activist group Fuse Washington.

Long known as an opponent of abortion, even in cases of rape or incest, Koster was asked if there were any circumstances under which he would approve of terminating a pregnancy.

"When a mother's life is in danger ... I'm not going to make that decision," he replied, before going on to talk about incest and rape.

Let's help get this story out to our DUers in Washington. Let's keep this Tea Partier out of Congress!!

Where the hell do all of these republican men get off thinking that they have a right to 'make decisions' regarding what women should or should not do!!!

Grrrr.

As I've said previously...

I am sick and tired of all of these Republican MEN spouting off about what they think women should and should not be allowed to do with our own bodies.

It is way past time to elect more WOMEN to Congress!

We women comprise 50% of the U.S. population and we are not being represented sufficiently on women's issues.

As of 2012, only 17 of the 100 U.S.Senators are women (17%)
As of 2012, only 76 of the 435 U.S. House Representatives are women (16.6%)

We need a national uprising in order to kick all the Republicans OUT-of-Office and elect Democrats and 'Democratic' WOMEN
At the national, state, and local levels.

And another thing that pisses me off about the Republicans: If the Republicans were actually concerned about lowering the abortion rates in The USA then they would not be so opposed to providing women with low-cost birth control. Contraception and sex education equals less abortions.

We ALL need to say NO to the Republican's agenda to pass legislation which would restrict abortion access, low-cost contraception access - and there must absolutely be NO more legislation mandating unnecessary sonograms/ultrasounds and invasive trans-vaginal-ultrasounds!

It isn't a human by any sane standard.

Not for about (insert your philosophy on this here) months.

Just because a sperm hit an egg, that status of human doesn't apply.

If it did, every miscarriage in the US would be murder.

EC or Emergency Contraceptives is basically a high dosage of birth control pill that can help prevent pregnancy should other forms of birth control fail or even in the case of rape.

Mind you it is only effective if taken within 72 hours of of the unprotected sex and it may not be 100% effective. But it's alot less traumatic to swallow a pill than to have to deal with an unwanted pregnancy later on.

Some hospitials will provide EC if a woman goes to the Emergency Room after a rape but hospitals run by religious organizations rarely do.
