Gascon ignored the red flag of a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition along with possession of methamphetamine and plea bargained it down to a 20 day sentence with two years of probation, if standard sentencing had been followed he would have got 32 months and still been in prison. Why do we pass gun control laws and then lack the will to enforce them? Now El Monte where the shooting occurred has become the 35th city to vote no confidence in Gascon. Between this, the Hannah Tubbs case and the youth who got off light after running down a mother and child in a stroller, in a stolen car, driving the wrong way, while on probation for drugging a girl at his high school Gascon has been digging his own grave. I would honestly be surprised if he keeps his position.

1. Gascon is not the reason prosecutors and police cannot enforce the law.

These decisions were not his directly, and lack of cruelty is not a cop killer. Remember the recall Gascon proponents began before he even took office. This initiative has nothing to do with Gascon, and blaming their deaths on him is absurd and irresponsible.

2. So why do we pass gun control laws and then allow prosecutors to ignore them?

We are more interested in taking guns from people who have never misused them than we are punishing people who actually break gun laws.

When Gascon is recalled the cop killing and this incident will be the main drivers.
