General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI have such a visceral reaction to seeing ANY images of Trump.
Channel surfing, and ABC was showing stills of him in the Oval that day.
Revulsion and rage in equal measure. I have never felt that way toward anyone.
I. Hate. Him.
Just had to get that off my chest.

(15,583 posts)For me it's akin to PTSD. All the anger and hatefulness that has subsided since we haven't had to see his ugly orange mug on TV every freakin' minute of the day, boils up the the surface once again even if it's just a still shot of "it".
Ugh. How Melania could stand to be married to that freakshow is beyond me.

(4,846 posts)She agrees with what he does. She did the same kind of BS like wearing that jacket that says "I don't care, do you?". She likes triggering libs as much as TFG. She likes grabbing attention as much as TFG.

(15,583 posts)I think she could have done so much better, not that I care about her one whit. I would love to see that prenup.

(4,846 posts)But marrying TFG got her in the super rare club of being a first lady of the USA. She is in the history book (for all of the wrong reasons but still). She gets to fundraise crazy among of money off republicans because of the status TFG got her even now.
We see TFG as this monster but they (the whole TFG criminal family) are enjoying the fame, power, and money associated with TFG.

(2,012 posts)... "wife of NBC-made Tycoon" was more what she aspired to. Enough to let her become a "lady who lunches" and maybe try a little caviar moisturizer business to pretend she's paying her own way.
She was aging out of the "model"/escort business and found her meal ticket to vouch for her parents' immigration and to maintain her in a certain lifestyle.

Oddly, seeing his face or hearing his voice doesn't elicit the kind of deep visceral reaction for me that it did when he was in office. I still find him just as disgusting, but nowadays my shoulders stay where they belong instead of creeping up around my ears.
When he dies, I will heave a sigh of relief. In prison would be nice, too; but he would still be able to influence people from prison in a way that he won't be able to do from the pits of hell.*
*I absolutely do not believe in hell as a literal place of eternal punishment, but I find the imagery to be satisfying in this case.

(15,583 posts)I'd rather he just take a dirt nap also. I do find that I don't have to scramble for the remote all the time like I did in his four years of traumatizing us.

My question is: now that Putin may be done with him, and the religious right might be done with him because they got their judges - will they start turning on him?

(2,357 posts)flat-out evil. Have had women tell me they think he's hot. Then, again, Kissinger was no matinee idol and he had a reputation as a "ladies man" back in the 60s.

(5,905 posts)I have never in my life hated anyone the way I hate that motherfucker. I can't look at pictures of him; I can't listen to his voice. I react like I just touched a hot stove and I swallowed poison all at once.

(10,252 posts)Hatred is poison, and I'm better than that. What's comes to mind about Trump is the phrase, "moral turpitude," which describes "wicked, deviant behavior constituting an immoral, unethical, or unjust departure from ordinary social standards such that it would shock a community."
In criminal law, the law sorts criminal activity into categories of crime either involving or not involving moral turpitude.
See https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/moral_turpitude
I don't watch or listen to anything he has to say. Why waste my time and give him an opportunity to disturb my peace of mind? Eventually, he will reap the consequences of his actions.

Revulsion and rage are the right words, and I also can't think of anyone else. Even the despicable Darth Cheney and Lying War Criminal Bush don't cause the reaction that MF45 causes.

(6,293 posts)and I used to raise insects for a living.
Any insect can walk over my hands and arms ( common when changing out food and or cleaning cages ) and even the mosquitos sipping a quick meal. But if a cockroach walks on me the reaction is instant and uncontrollably swift.
That is the exact reaction to T and has been since the late 80s when he began polluting the public airwaves with his presence.

(1,641 posts)I have a pretty strong reaction to the guy, just knowing what he is. If there is something on the news relating to him and I really feel that I need to know it, I find little ways of distancing myself so that I can remain informed in a clinical way. Sometimes, it is just a matter of turning my head and only allowing the audio aspects of the news report to filter into my brain.
Another thing that helps is consuming smart, humorous content about him. Mel Brooks explained that making certain (evil) people into punch lines reduces their power over you. That's why I found Randy Rainbow to be so therapeutic. So, with that in mind, and with all due trigger warnings, I am going to post one of RR's best treatments of an odious subject matter. Yes, his name and visage appear, but Randy savages the orange turd so brilliantly that it's actually a healing experience.
My apologies to those who disagree. Don't click if this really makes you uncomfortable. If someone truly as a problem with this, please feel free to report this post and get it removed. I'm not kidding. Everyone's journey to peace of mind is different and I would never insist that my way is the only way.
