A notorious Russian mercenary accused of killing prisoners of war and civilians in Ukraine has been killed, according to reports.
Vladimir Andonov, 44, who has been dubbed "The Executioner," was shot by a sniper near Kharkiv, Ukraine, on June 5, according to several Russian media outlets including the newspaper Moskovskij Komsomolets.
Zhambal-Zhamso Zhanaev, the head of Russia's Trans-Baikal Territory in Buryatia, where Andonov lived, confirmed his death to the paper and said his body will be transported back to the region to be buried.

Andonov, who was known within Russia by his call sign Vakha or "the volunteer from Buryatia," gained notoriety due to his role in Russia's 2014 invasion of Ukraine and annexation of Crimea.

(35,350 posts)By the end of the week. Let's be kind and let the number of wounded be capped at 80k as well.
Then we can evaluate the situation next weekend and determine the number of dead Russia-serving mercs and soldiers for the following week. Preliminary estimates are another 50k will be needed, but that's a floor and not an upper bound.
Still think that the NATO countries are shaping the battlefield--not the Russian side, but the Ukrainian side. Need to seem tough to meet *our* objectives, but the Ukrainians get what serves our interests even as we claim otherwise.
Say one thing, do a second, think a third. Tres sovietique, ca.

(111,332 posts)and that video was on Day 108. If that's actually the case, the question will be whether the Kremlin will allow him to keep throwing everything but the kitchen sink into a failed campaign in Donbas in perpetuity or if they're going to tell him to wrap it up, declare victory, and throw himself another parade with what's left.
I'm still surprised he's in power at all since his blunders have been so enormous and so costly and now they know Ukraine is not going to give up, whereas if they hadn't gone in with guns blazing, they might have held onto Crimea and Donesk City for a while longer.
