Somewhere along the line, Romney's faux Jeep spiel or the faux hurricane relief photo op cut through the media haze. And, likely, the public's as well. Blatant stuff.

Because when I heard Chuckie Toad on Morning Joke saying Romney should win because of the intangibles, I knew Obama was locking it up.

It isn't because anyone suddenly realized they have been total tools, it just isn't as important now that the ad dollars are in and the audience is fully prepped to tune in on election night. Undoubtedly, some, even most of the talking heads have their own opinions, but they don't matter. All that matters to cable news is hitting their demographics and selling air time. If it requires pumping up a flagging challenger to keep election coverage interesting to viewers--not a problem.

Now they want to grab a shred of last minute "respect" by accurately guessing the truth. They can use that to promote themselves and possibly keep the audience after the election. The last week before an election is about as "honest" as the various news channels can be, because it is the fiscally prudent option.

Look, there's never been a doubt that Obama would win this election. But the media, blogs, etc had to create a horse race or they would have nothing to report and punditize about. I have not seen one plausible senario where Romney would win the elctoral college vote. They are changing their tune now, because it's less than a week from the election and they would look like the dumb asses they really are if they tried to maintain the neck to neck race any longer, and then Obama wins in a landslide.
