British Columbia is the first province in Canada to de-criminalize possession of small amounts of

illicit drugs. Adults will be able to possess small amounts of opioids, cocaine, methamphetamine and MDMA and drug abuse will be treated as a health matter not a criminal matter. BC was the first province to apply to the Federal govn't for an exemption.

1. Thousands are dying from fentanyl ods. If they are not afraid to be out in

the open or with other people there is a chance they will be saved if they OD. Narcan given to reverse over doses at safe injection sites is 100% effective at saving lives. At least in Ottawa it is.

2. That is part of the purpose of this, many people die alone because of the fear

of calling for help or the stigma of the drugs. I expect there will be more provinces to follow if this works well.
