Decent people aren't outraged enough.
Nothing will ever change until decent people are outraged.

I'm talking about millions and millions.

Every decent person I know is exhausted.

3. Oh fuck that noise. There is actually a DUer who insists that, unless the rest of us stage
hunger strikes, the gun humpers among us don't have any responsibility to do anything.
Bullshit. This blood is on the hands of "responsible gun owners" everywhere. Not on the rest of us. It is not "decent people" who need to be out in the streets. It is all those "respectable gun owners." They have financed the NRA, they have fought for their libertehs, they have bribed politicians for a generation. And they won. And now they have what they fought for, and there is little the rest of us can do about it. The only ones who can change this are the "respectable gun owners" who don't want the blood on their hands anymore from the massacres that result from their hobby. This is not on my head. This is on the heads of the people parsing terminology when a massacre happens. This is on the people who attend the gun shows and financially support the sale of guns. This is on the people who spend thousands on gun after gun after gun because they think it's cool, thereby making the gun manufacturers a financial juggernaut that has the money to buy law that keep the money pouring in. So, "responsible gun owners," you broke this. You bought it. Now fix it. Because those babies' blood is on YOUR hands. No one else's. |

7. Their purchase of guns and ammunition funds gun companies who lobby Congress.
So they are responsible.
Responsible for continuing the madness that the gun lobby exerts on our laws. |

22. And y'all have teamed with the NRA to make the gun lobby untouchable. So it is up to YOU
"responsible gun owners" to uncouple yourselves from the NRA, or to make a stink and make changes from inside your lobby.
YOU are the only ones who can change this, and if you don't, you are nothing but complicit with this lobby YOU have created as it continues to cause slaughter after slaughter after slaughter. |

4. I would say decent republicans aren't outraged enough.
But then I have to ask, can a person be decent & support the Republican Party? IDK.

8. Bullshit. The vast majority of Americans have
been outraged for 15 years or so now. A vast majority of Americans favor rational gun controls. Our political system is broke. And that IS something that not enough “decent” people are outraged about. So we flail and flounder.

10. The answer is in your use of the word "decent".
There are decent people, and a lot of us. But there are more who are not decent. It really boils down to that concept.
Decent people think about other people; not just themselves. Decent people see beyond their own circumstances; not just what impacts their pocketbooks and inconveniences; Decent people want to help other people; not step on someone who is down because they can. I guarantee you that as much as I may disagree with some posters here on DU, the great majority of people here ARE decent people, or they wouldn't be here. But it's the idiots in the real world, outside, who don't have to account to anyone when they don't want to be decent. They have no shame. We all know them. We all have to deal with them. How do we make them into decent people? |

11. "Decent" people like most of us, currently the majority in US are outraged.
But the “will of the people” has been subverted by outrageous Republican destruction of Democracy.

17. Especially in Texas.
I am a lifelong Texan and grew up in Uvalde County. There is currently an attorney that I know personally in Uvalde County who has insisted for years that Sandy Hook was a hoax. Now, he’s all upset about the shooting in Uvalde. I’m not sure he’s allowed to be upset in my book.
I don’t consider him “decent”. I consider him ignorant. Yes, the Republican destruction of the “will of the people” is certainly the factor. But the Republicans are winning because the people are not standing up. Do we have to take to the streets? Obviously protests do no good. We can’t out vote them (in Texas at least) because the Republicans cheat. |

20. Has it
You make it sound as if congress was stormed and a hostile take over took place. It did not, voters put them ALL there. THAT is what people don't want to acknowledge. And I don't want to hear about dark money, lobbyists, the NRA, the media the evil republicans or anything else. VOTERS are the ones with the power, no matter how much $$$$ is involved. Bottom line, THE VOTERS, as well as non voters, gave us the government we have now. Period!

We look the other way while atrocities are committed.

19. I know this sounds simplistic to many:
But we a mass yard sign campaign. We need huge flags that express our opinions. We have to stop being scared of or maga neighbors
We need bill boards and chalk protests. We need bake sales for change. We need tshirts and tattoos. Rummage sales for the poor We need to be in our church newsletters. Media is never going to help so we need to be much more obvious to what we feel is right. |
