Atlantic City mayor did tell residents to evacuate.

Chris Christie excoriated the mayor of Atlantic City last night blaming him for stranded citizens in Atlantic City. He sayuz the mayor told them to go to shelters in town rather than leave the city. Once again, the governor forgets that there are people who cannot leave town. I did a quick search and found several articles like this one where the mayor urged residents to leave, including those on barrier islands, and if they could not leave town, to at least go to shelters in the city.

Atlantic City has closed its casinos, other businesses and neighborhoods today in advance of the tidal surges and 60 mph winds expected from the storm driven by Hurricane Sandy.

“It’s very prudent for (residents) to heed this advice and get out of the city if you can,” Mayor Lorenzo Langford said. “Three feet, four feet of water in the city will disable a lot of our vehicles, and we won’t be able to respond, even if we want to. In some cases, it could prove to be physically impossible to get to you, depending on what happens. So we want our residents to take every precaution to get out of town and, if they can’t or, for whatever reason, they won’t, at least go to a shelter located in the city.”

So, why, you might ask, would Chris Christie blame the local mayor at the height of the storm saying he didn't do what obviously he did do?

Not that Chris Christie is a vengeful, glutinous pig or anything.

Christie Says Those Stranded in Atlantic City on Own
http://www.businessweek.com/news/2012-10-29/christie-says-those-stranded-in-atlantic-city-on-own

Since Katrina, I am sensitive about blaming the local officials. Several NOLA officials were crucified by the Bushies and the press for things they often did not do.

I did find a little history between the AC mayor and the governor-dearest.

From 10/19/12.

So, Voluminous Christie chooses the height of the worst storm on record to exact political revenge on a local official trying to carry out his greatness' orders. That's pretty much it. Think he (Christie the Great in his own Mind) cares one whoot for AC residents who were stranded for whatever reason? Nah, those people are "on their own."

Lost my mind during that press conference yesterday. That was not the time to TRY to score political points. At about ten last night NJ 12 stated that about 500 people had remained in AC.

500 is a pretty good number. AC did as good a job as they could when faced with stubborn people.

I hope people remember who this jerk is, while we heap praises his way for thanking President Obama. He is genuflecting to Obama because he needs that gubment money. Has he returned the money to the Feds yet for the tunnel project that he stopped?

The disaster was still ongoing when Christie went on a personal attack toward the Mayor. It was clear to me at the time that this was personal with Christie, he was grossly inappropriate to do this at that time. To know he was lying on top if it makes it even worse if possible.
