(69,102 posts)And DeWine won not one of Trump's henchmen so...fingers crossed. Tim Ryan is well-liked in Ohio.
Ms. Toad
(34,428 posts)None of Ryan's competitors earned a significant number of votes.
(And, though I can't find it now, I think the overal vote tally for Vance and Ryan was about the same - which does not bode well if the Republicans hold their noses and vote for Vance.)

(21,527 posts)Tim Ryan will talk about that things matter to people of Ohio while JD will do MAGA bs talking points with no substance.
Mr.Bill
(24,441 posts)no debate. Vance won't do it. He has little to gain and everything to lose. They will declare the debates rigged and corrupt and blame the Democrats for it.

They post only to imply someone is somehow, someway wrong or negative spin.
Ryan was ahead by one in the last general poll.
I expect I'll be alerted on and banned, but I am correct. I'm tired of how subtle negativity is allowed here.

(33,149 posts)Ryan is good, but Vance with that f-ing movie and aw shucks persona is very bad news.
Edit-https://www.nytimes.com/live/2022/05/03/us/ohio-indiana-primary-election
snip-His chances of success in the general election in the fall are considered relatively low, given a national political environment that is unfriendly to his party and the increasingly conservative tilt of Ohio, which voted for Mr. Trump in the last two presidential elections.
But an upset victory by Mr. Ryan could carry lessons for national Democrats in the Midwest on how to counter the appeal of Trumpism and win back white working-class voters who used to form a large part of the Democratic base in the industrial heart of the country.
BradAllison
(1,879 posts)But Ryan is the type of new candidate closest to the Joe Biden style of politics. Then let's do this if that's what they want.

(22,109 posts)If you scroll down to Ohio Senate Forecast, and then click on either Ryan v. Vance or Ryan v. Mandel, you'll notice that where Mandel would've been projected to have a 4.1% avg. advantage, Vance would be behind Ryan by 0.4%.

Looks like Vance isn't the only Dunce in the Ohio GOP.
Ms. Toad
(34,428 posts)Even some Democrats crossed party lines to vote for him in the 2016 primary because they were so sure he would be the easiest candidate to beat. And even after that, people still thought 2020 would be a slam dunk.

(34,428 posts)The conspiracy theories from the Blackwell era are the exact same ones we are ridiculing now that they are coming out of Trump supporter's mouths. Literally the exact same theories, pointing to the exact same "research," and citing the exact same "experts."
If they were true then, they are true now (since all that has changed is the party making the accusations).
Demsrule86
(69,102 posts)personally. It will be tough no doubt. But I still think if Democrats turn out we can beat him...Tim can win independent voters and even some Republicans...some of Josh Mandel's voters are truly pissed. So we shall see.
Demsrule86
(69,102 posts)everywhere. Georgia showed that if we can reduce GOP margins in red/purple districts-rural and or small towns, we can win statewide races. Consider Paulding County in Georgia, we reduced republican margins there and in other red areas and Joe Biden won the state and we won the Senate. We have to reduce GOP margins. There are Democratic voters in those areas and we need to get them out and hold the cities. That is our path to victory.
