Vance says Biden is trying to kill MAGA voters: If you wanted to kill a bunch of MAGA voters in the middle of the heartland, how better to target them and their kids with this fentanyl .. It does look intentional. Its like Biden wants to punish people who didnt vote for him.

Josh Hawley: Stanford, Yale Law
Ted Cruz: Princeton, Harvard Law
Mike Pompeo: West Point, Harvard Law
etc, etc.
Not to mention the Bushes, and Trump and his spawn

I just heard a new phrase for Republican strategy..."Weapons of Mass Distraction". They got no agenda, no ideas for an agenda, no ideas for the problems faced by the country and the world. They just want to be in control.

(61,690 posts)I didn't read his book, but even the title Hillbilly Elegy implies a feeling of victimization and abandonment. Vance tapped into that resentment. He's still using it to fuel his campaign.
It's like half the country has Borderline Personality Disorder. The rest of us are trying to reason with them but it's like trying to reason with two year olds having a collective meltdown.

Oh, and a little tip for this little punk. Growing a beard isn't going to make you look more "manly". Before the beard, he looked like a baby faced punk and he thinks the MAGAts will like him more if he looks more "backwoodsy".

(81,412 posts)Nancy didn't like Reagan's Treasury Secretary and thought he was making enough bad moves that he was making her husband look bad. She scolded him and added "people are talking!" Don Regan was fated not to be Treasury Secretary for much longer, after that. The message got sent - you DO NOT cross Nancy Reagan. She could have your head on a plate before lunchtime.
DAYUM, but that stuck with me. I'll NEVER forget that "people are talking!" admonishment.
I suspect she might have been at least one of those "people".

(1,474 posts)These rubes could be choosing to elect leaders who want to give them health care and resources to fight the scourge of these drugs. Instead, they choose to get worked up over all the bullshit "issues" pitched to them by mentally deranged demagogues. I'm sorry your kids are dying, but folks, this shit is on you.

(36,130 posts)We should not take their bait and have to prove a damned thing. We should not spend our time reacting to them such that we get accused that "we" have a "messaging problem." Their shit net is the messaging problem.
JD Vance is not a propagandist. He's a liar. A destroyer of voter trust in government. He would do the very same thing to Democrats if he were president, which is why he projects his menacing mind upon our party leader.
It's not just that Vance is dangerous as a person. His protection racket line is how those hell bent on ending democracy do it with or without trump. New righter managers of fact-free fear and big lies don't need a leader. Just the protection racket game. Vance does what the eliminationist Putin does when he accuses of Ukraine of being Nazi as a pretext for "protecting" it. It's what leaders intent on war and genocide do.
When they're caught in their racket, they flip to patriot victims.
The real solution is us and our candidates sticking to our messaging of what we've accomplished. Only people who've accomplished nothing for locals rely on lies about us.

It sounds like MAGA voters must be high to believe this nonsense. Their hero Rush Limbaugh was high as a kite while bloviating his nonsense. Trump likely is high on pills.
MAGA folks seem to be getting punished harder with COVID too.

(2,574 posts)Seems like an easy way to escape the hellish confusion and profound misery of the hopelessness caused by the prevalence of self-deception, and lack of self awareness, that leads to the dishonesty, insatiable greed, and xenophobia that almost universally exists within the individual and collective Republican consciousness.
What a hell on earth it must be, to be so lacking in empathy, so cruel, and so far out of touch with reality.
Vance is just repeating the excuse that conservatives throughout the history of humankind have used, when blaming someone or something else to justify their anti-social, criminal, self destructive, and often sociopathic, behaviors....
"The devil made me do it".
In reality, it's simple supply and demand - fentanyl dealers sell their poison in places where the demand is highest, and the demand is highest among angry, ignorant, semi-literate, Fox news watching, vaccine denying, Trump worshiping MAGAts in Red areas, who need an authoritarian daddy to tell them what to do.
Vance can blame fentanyl deaths on innocent people such as President Biden until the cows come home. It's all part of the their QAnon fantasy. The Republican party is a reality denying cult.
