Don't send the V.P. or Secretary of State, or Chairman of the Joint Chiefs.
Just Go. Your mere presence would be uplifting.
Do it.

President Biden needs to go while there is still a window.
Do it.

(6,974 posts)Look at what he's doing NOW with no end in the foreseeable future as I see it.
That rabid dog is guilty of genocide in Ukraine, and he could care less.
I wouldn't go if I were Pres. Biden whose helping all that he can, and he shouldn't put his life on the line to prove that he cares because we know that he does care about the sanctity of human life. Pres. Biden has to watch out for his health as well. He's under a hell of a lot of pressure from being assaulted daily by the reich-wing in this country, and by most in the so-called "liberal press/media" which is NOT liberal in any way, shape or form.

(21,321 posts)Giving the proper speech along side of Zelenskyy would be powerful, would encourage our NATO allies to step it up.
It's the right thing to do.

(5,225 posts)The amount of security and preparation needed for a POTUS visit would deflect from defending the country.

(7,638 posts)If Biden goes they'll use nukes. I wonder what happens when they threaten nukes if we don't reelect TFG? Will you still cower in fear?

(42,757 posts)His presence there would be disruptive. Resources that would be
expended on any visit could be better utilized in other areas.
gab13by13
(21,321 posts)be less disruptive? Will they not expend resources to protect any high ranking American?
Boris Johnson went without causing disruptions.
It's not about photo ops, Joe Biden is a Democratic president.
If you were in Joe's shoes, would you go? Zelenskyy asked him to come.

(7,447 posts)Doesn't think it would be disruptive, he's asking him to come.
I have no idea why folks are so fired up against this idea.
Putin isn't killing the US President.
He's not the Joker.

(7,772 posts)The US needs to keep as low a profile as possible. The current Russian leadership will just use it as propaganda to stoke fear of invasion.
We need to keep the weapons and money flowing in, and the rest on the qt.

(81 posts)Sending the guy who organized the largest NATO response in support of a non- member in history to meet with the president of Ukraine who is actively being hunted by assassination squad's in a country peppered with Russian sabotage groups that cannot adequately protect it's airspace for a PR visit with short-term benefits at best, kind of seems stupid to me. If you think Putin wouldn't take a shot at the leaders of his two biggest adversaries then you are giving way too much credit to a totally evil fascist. Taking out Biden would be a massive coup for Russia that would likely send shockwaves through NATO's current resolve. Harris does not yet have the international chops to keep that herd of cats together and that job may become infinitely more difficult depending on the outcome of elections in France. There are just way too many upsides for Russia in the scenario when reopening our embassy in Kyiv would be for more useful, less disruptive and still send powerful signal that the United States intense to stick with Ukraine.

(32,634 posts)If Putin and Biden agree to meet in a safe place, then maybe Zelenskyy (or one of his advisors) could be included at the last minute. If not, then maybe they could have a Zoomer with Zelenskyy, who stays home in a safe place.
However Joe Biden should never set foot on Ukraine or Russian soil while this is going on.
