The highest was DC2 during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the first Gulf War. On 911 it was only raised to a 3. 3 would also be my best guest at where we are now.

I think we would know about that. Too many bases around the U.S. and world not to notice it.

Bases are not in the middle of nowhere. Yes, it would be noticed. And I might add it would certainly be noticed by the Russians with their satellites.

most would only notice military air traffic if they got an alert on their phone. I live smack dab in the middle between McConnel and Tinkers flight path. Hubby is a Marine. I notice the traffic, but even I wouldn't recognize the difference between drills and an actual mission.

Unfortunately since that war, US policymakers have gotten much more confident of capabilities.

Nothing extreme, but I've moved some ready-to-eat food, water, a radio, batteries, sleeping bags, etc. there that I normally keep elsewhere. A lot of the stuff we would need is already stored there anyway. I should also set up a bug-out bag for each of us in case we have to leave the house.

I understand the sentiment of not wanting to live if that happens and it's really widespread, but radiation is no way to go.
