What kind of government do we want??

Do we want a big government? Or do we want a good government? Do we want an efficient government? Do we want a small government? Do we want no government at all?

I think that is the underlying issue of this entire political campaign. Have we really spent too much money on government or have we spent just about right to get us out of the mess left by George W Bush? And please don't say that George W Bush never left a mess because he most certainly did.

There is a struggle between conservatives and liberals over the size of government and it has been going on for quite some time. At least, since Reagan.

I hate to inform all my liberal friends that the other side is winning on this issue. They are not only preventing any new social programs for the people, they are succeeding in taking most of the wealth created, mostly for themselves. They are paying the lowest tax rates in many decades. They are taking our jobs overseas and they are hiding their profits in foreign accounts. Never before in our history has a candidate for President had so much wealth buried overseas, simply so as not to pay his fair share of taxes in this country. It is a betrayal at a very high order, contrary to what partisan conservatives might say.

All because they refuse to give the black man a little credit for doing a great job under very severe circumstances. And they march behind the rich white guy, who refuses to pay taxes to our country, and they say it is not because they are biased or prejudiced in any way against the black man that has led this country so well in this crisis. ( And with two wars, the banks crashing around us, the world economy teetering on collapse, it was a crisis.)

Now that the economy is finally showing signs of improvement, the sharks are ready to get back in the water. They pretend some type of amnesia about what we experienced and what we have gone through, with our banks, with home mortgages, with the stock market, with the stimulus. They remember "Obamacare" but they don't remember any of that other stuff? And these weak-minded individuals want to lead this country.

Excellent. As far as the no government at all, it's the dream of the oligarchs. Libertarians suck. freshwest Oct 2012 #1

Because this is the end result of their propaganda. Funded by the same oligarchs, calling it freedom and liberty. Bullshit. Excuse me, but it doesn't do any good to be nice to them. Any nicer comment from you to use, feel free to tell me, kentuck.

I try to show them this in any way I think that will get through. But I would like to say just this just this succinctly . . .

Thank you. I believe this is an issue that needs to be addressed more clearly by the Democratic Party. It has become like a tug-of-war. We Democrats will spend money on whatever program we think will help even the smallest group of people, because we are inclusive. Republicans will cut spending anywhere and vow to never raise any taxes to pay for what we now have or need. It is a deadly gridlock.

I want an efficient government

I want a kind government

I want a just government

I want a government that works equally well for all of us, not just some of us

I want a government big enough to serve our collective needs but small enough to stay out of the way of our personal liberties....
