Manchin strikes again.
Sarah Bloom Raskin, President Bidens pick for the Feds top banking regulator, withdrew her nomination on Tuesday, according to a source familiar with the process, after Republicans and one key Democrat opposed her confirmation.
Raskins nomination to the job of vice chair for supervision first came under pressure when GOP lawmakers came out against her, pointing to her focus on climate change and its threat to financial stability. But her candidacy was put in jeopardy after Republicans on the Senate Banking Committee boycotted her confirmation vote, raising questions about her time on the board of a Colorado payments firm that got access to a Fed payments systems during her tenure on the companys board.
On Monday, Sen. Joe Manchin III, a key Democratic vote, said he opposed Raskin because of her stance on energy in an era of inflation.

Wouldn't it be cheaper just to buy out the fossil fuel companies, and get on with saving the planet?

(70,504 posts)... and its threat to financial stability. Manchin and the GOP has the fossil fuel industry's c**k in
their mouths.
"On Monday, Sen. Joe Manchin III, a key Democratic vote, said he opposed Raskin because of her
stance on energy in an era of inflation." This has nothing to do w/inflation but trying to stop the
much needed switch to clean and green energy in order to save the planet's ability to support
us and life as we know it. Now, the earth will still be orbiting the sun but things we used to take
for granted will change.
The science behind understanding climate change is not republican v democrat or liberal v conservative
it is what it is.

What does he think he has left to prove? OK, we get that he can fuck things up. Is he ready at some point to show the country that he can do it some good as well, or that above and beyond the call?
