The internet depresses me. A tool of such amazing potential for people to communicate

over-run with nutjobs, scammers, spmmers, and inanity.

I never thought I'd live to see the day ACUTAL Americans would side with an enemy nations led by a brutal dictator over a democratic country that the brutal autocrat invaded for no reason.

It hurts just looking at things like that.

Radio had promise, now it's just corporate stooges on most FM and Nazi-like propaganda on AM
TV had promise, but then over-ego driven businessmen took it over and now it's all about the bottom line
Internet had promise, but now it's become a haven for bullies, nazis, and fascists to hide behind a phone or keyboard.

And a good chunk of Americans are also Putin puppets.

It is time to start calling them out.

crackpots getting an audience and multiplying. Some have suggested using AI to eliminate some of this. I think it "might" be a good idea ... implementation could be in just a few years, so I've read. I never dreamed it would become so disruptive to the potential for a well functioning society. That said, there are also a lot of very good things available.

...when the dominant mode of online communication was dial-in text-only bulletin board services (BBS's). On a couple of occasions I actually removed the modem from my computer to give myself a rest from it. That's no longer really practical though because of all the other things we use the Internet for (some with no other alternative).
