New poll by Democrat-leaning groups shows Obama with 47-45 lead in Florida

A poll conducted Tuesday and Wednesday for Democrat-leaning Project New America and USAction says President Obama leads Mitt Romney in Florida by a 47-to-45 percent margin.

The sample of 600 likely voters was 40 percent Democrat and 40 percent Republican and has a 4 percent margin of error.

The poll says Obama has a 52-to-39 percent lead among women while Romney leads 52-to-41 percent among men.

Independents favor Obama by a 49-to-33 percent margin, according to the poll.

Project New America works with groups such as the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, the National Education Association, the Service Employees International Union and the Sierra Club. USAction works with SEIU, public employee unions and other groups and was an advocate for the federal health care law
