(40,220 posts)She being the narcissist that she is, of course she needed to put out a statement...just in case people forgot about her for 5 seconds. At the end of the day, the candidate will not give Sinema any reason not to vote for her and she will vote for the nominee just as she as voted for all of Biden's other nominees.

(15,152 posts)Mitch will still have his 6-3 Supreme Court. This is her opportunity to pretend that she's a sensible and rational person.

(3,983 posts)About as anodyne as you can get; not sure why the OP thinks it's ominous.
Justice Breyer has honorably served our country in the Army Reserve, Department of Justice, Senate Judiciary Committee, and in the federal judiciary for decades including nearly 30 years on the U.S. Supreme Court where he has faithfully upheld our Constitution. I join all Arizonans in thanking him for his service and life-long commitment to American justice. As with all nominees and as I did during the 2020 Supreme Court nomination, I look forward to fulfilling my constitutional duty to provide advice and consent by thoughtfully examining the next nominee based on three criteria: whether the nominee is professionally qualified, believes in the role of an independent judiciary, and can be trusted to faithfully interpret and uphold the rule of law.

(9,036 posts)it is about the least I would expect. If she sticks to it, Biden's nominee should be confirmed.
I wish we could relax with all the hand-wringing pessimism.

(11,257 posts)I get that we need to be skeptical of anything she says, but this would be a totally normal statement if it came from anyone else.

(7,447 posts)I don't see anything in there other than look at me I'm important.
It would be a lot more surprising to me if she blocked this than blocking BBB and voting rights, both of which I and a lot of other people very much expected.

(32,731 posts)I don't trust her and I think her tweet was 100% unnecessary, but other than grandiose posturing, I don't detect anything sinister.
