that she has some of her family (could be in laws) in southern KY and northern TN, none of
them are vaccinated, others in that clan have had C-19, and they will be at the funeral and they
will not wear masks. She told me that she has tried talking to them and or begging them to
get vaccinated and they refuse to do so because of some kind of clap trap.
I will always remember at some right wing event last July (C-PAC ??) the crowd breaking out and
cheering when a speaker said that only 68% of Americans had gotten @ least one vaccination
which was short of Joe Biden's goal of 70% by July 4th. Sick mother fuckers cheering on death
and disease.

(67,112 posts)so great. There was always some ... but it's like the outer fringe has moved into the 40% range. It's so dangerous ... it makes me wonder how the US could survive if something far worse than Covid were to come along. I guess the brainwashing has been so severe and now can be easily populated by the internet. There is excellent information available ... but yet many cling to lies and delusions. It's like a Stephen King horror novel.

What a great idea. My County could save a lot of tax money if they would just lay off all of the Fire and Ambulance staff. If anyone needs them in the future they can simply hire new people.

(14,094 posts)The US government had people working with the Chinese to avoid a pandemic and that idiot Trump shut that down. They left the post in July and in December the pandemic got started - this may be more than just a coincidence. We really shouldn't put idiots in charge of our government.

Kushner telling Trump to let the virus go cuz it was only in blue states was about the stupidest thing ever. The only biology class I had was in high school & even I know contagious diseases don't care about boundaries, politics, or religion. Did they really think it would just stay in NY & WA?

(28,818 posts)says it was there as early as August 2019. I got the most sick I've ever been in CA in Oct2019. Will never know if it was COVID or not, but it could have been. Am convinced that my son and his family, and another friend in LA, had it in Jan2020 just before it was starting to get reported on.

(47,833 posts)An anecdotal story:
Around Sept and October of 2019, an acquaintance of mine had an adult son who was diagnosed with a "bad case of pneumonia" and ended up in a coma on a ventilator. He died soon thereafter.
This acquaintance and her adult daughter spent a lot of time in the hospital with him prior to his death. Quite coincidentally at the time, this daughter also gets "pneumonia" and ends up on a respirator and dies. All happens well before Christmas of 2019. No one at all thinks Covid.
In hindsight I think it was Covid. The odds of having two adult children get pneumonia causing death within a 5 week period seems highly unlikely.
Right, how many of us had it that fall and early winter and didn't realize it?

(4,552 posts)Late December 2019. Northern CA. Me, my hubby, my daughter, and my best friend. I think I picked it up while Christmas shopping and gave it to everyone else. I had all the classic Covid symptoms. Took me weeks to get over it. I was at the worst of it right about this time in January two years ago. Fatigue so great I could barely walk, deep racking coughs, fever... I thought it was a flu. I remember thinking it was odd, though, because my colds and flu usually start in my sinuses and eventually all the congestion ends up in my chest, but this was different because it STARTED in my chest. My sinuses were not clogged, but my chest was so congested I could barely breathe. My family and my friend all had similar illnesses. I also remember fearing it would kill me. I have little doubt that it was Covid, but yeah, like the rest of you, I will never know for sure.

(1,182 posts)the Mercers and the Kochs, and a whole bunch of other "global elites", believing only they have the right to rule the world, and the rest of us are expendable. Just so much "human capital", to be used up like any other "resource".
This whole nightmare is all about money, greed and power. For "if power asks why, power is weakness". They do these things to us simply because they can. And Democracy just stands in the way. Rule by the consent of the governed is anathema to these folks.
Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

And as to the comments above concerning, "it was here before it was here", I lost a good friend who was in and out of the hospital from November 2019 thru January 2020 when she died. They kept saying she had a, "bad case of pneumonia that won't go away". She was diabetic and had to check her BG every couple of hours and travel with an epipen. So that is pretty much what her death was blamed on.

(291 posts)it's a nice thought, but since every country on earth went through it, and not just FF45, we'd still be in the same place.
Remember, even the CDC was part of the problem at the beginning. Read their guidance in early 2020 and you'd think they were in the Twilight Zone. Also, the Chinese were NOT very cooperative either.

(5,275 posts)If a normal human being, either party, had been in office at the outset of this thing we would be in a far different place right now. Instead we were stuck, because of stupid people, with an incompetent pathological liar. His lying and downplaying of this at the outset let this disease get a firm foothold here quickly.
Trump should be looking at Prison, not a return to Office. Oh and still dont know why he hasnt yet pitched over because of his weight, his diet, his lack of real exercise.

(34,857 posts)Where Trump did the most damage was by downplaying the virus and uplaying the conspiracy theories so that a good chunk of the country refused to do what was needed. Even with competent leadership, it's all irrelevant if 40% of the country refuses to vaccinate.
That's what has made the pandemic a nightmare.

(45,628 posts)people who are too stubbornly dumb to take a free vaccine or wear a simple face covering would prefer to claim that foreigners are coming here from our southern border and overseas to infect us with COVID. Haters view hate as the solution to every problem.
I don't know if there are many Chinese in Italy. When Italy was getting it hard in the beginning, I don't believe they blamed Chinese or any other foreigners for COVID. Maybe it's all Marco Polo's fault.
