If the definition of insanity is to do the same thing and expect different results, then it is insane to give the un-vaccinated a key to the city and still expect to keep the doors open.

Laura Coates is right on-point with this.

(11,554 posts)Has Covid. Fully vaxed. So far no symptoms fingers crossed. She said her aunt has it, (exes sister) must have got at Christmas. We live out of state and stayed home. So glad now.

Something about a mandate.

(33,016 posts)There never was a promise that we wouldn't get the virus. I repeat: we were never promised that we wouldn't get Covid.
Getting vaccinated gives us enough antibodies so that instead of dying or becoming a human vegetable, we can endure a sore throat and sniffles for a few days and shrug it off. The vaccine is doing its job most of the time. Thank you Dr. Fauci!

(90,379 posts)... that was the case we could get rid of the common cold too.
We can make it so little that it doesn't pass as much but there was no eradication plan, I think that should be messaged by the CDC; what "win" looks like

(12,444 posts)got Delta and required the monoclonal antibody treatments because SILs unvaccinated boss coughed all over my SIL. They all survived but boss has recurrent symptoms after a much lengthier recovery. My kids are now recovered and fine and have since had their boosters. When they first had it they were too early for boosters.
Moral of story: Get Vaccinated all the way.
PS
Daughter said it was as close to death as she would ever want to come.

(6,701 posts)The vax was never intended to stop transmission or stop from getting enough of a viral load to test positive. It was intended to keep people out of hospitals and morgues when used alongside all the other tools, masking, distance, air quality etc.
The vast majority of hospitalizations and deaths I believe are still unvaxxed. So where the danger comes, is they put such a burden on the healthcare system that a vaxxed person needing ER or ICU care may end up dying because there is not enough nurses, doctors and resources to cover it all.
That's what I understand the current situation to be ....
