Did anyone catch this Mitt Goody last night... "8 to 10 years to balance the budget"

Romney and the republicans are all over Obama because he hasn't turned the economy around fast enough yet last night he said not once but twice that he would have the budget balanced in 8 to 10 years.

Tell me if I am wrong, that he didn't say something to that effect. It was during one of the times where Shieffer was trying to stop him and he continued on and on.

he said he won't balance the budget in his first term because doing so would endanger the recovery. Correct, of course, but entirely antithetical to everything the RWers are constantly screaming.

And by the way, his timeline for balancing the budget is longer than Obama's.

MR. ROMNEY: The good news is, I’ll be happy to have you take a look. Come on our website, you’ll look at how we get to a balanced budget within eight to 10 years. We do it by getting — by reducing spending in a whole series of programs. By the way, number one I get rid of is “Obamacare.” There are a number of things that sound good but, frankly, we just can’t afford them. And that one doesn’t sound good, and it’s not affordable, so I get rid of that one from day one; to the extent humanly possible, we get that out. We take program after program that we don’t absolutely have to have and we get rid of them.

Now what we need is a quote from Romney criticizing Obama for not balancing the budget in 4 years.

MR. ROMNEY: I'll balance the budget by the end of my second term. Doing it in the first term would cause, I believe, a-- a dramatic impact on the economy. Too-- too dramatic. And therefore the steps I've put in place and we've put together a plan that lays out how we get to a balanced budget within eight to 10 years.

from plummeting off the cliff and he's just not cleaning up *their* mess fast enough. But, somehow Mitt gets two terms to turn things around, not that his policies will.
