Appearing on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) praised Mitt Romney's performance in the final debate and criticized President Obama for mocking the GOP candidate's approach to the defense budget.
"Frankly, I don't understand why the president wants to take these kind of cheap shots -- bayonets and horses, what's that all about?" he said. "You know, when I debated then-Senator Obama I didn't criticize or belittle his lack of experience on national security issues. And he seemed to take these kind of cheap shots. ... I kind of resent it."
"I think you should treat you opponent with some respect. ... It was small ball."

(32,080 posts)It was the perfect illustration of how Romney is living in the past, and how he has no fucking clue about the modern military. And, he brought this upon himself by making that ignorant comment about having fewer ships in the Navy now than during WWI.

(15,953 posts)And what about respecting the voters? Telling outright lies, trying to block and intimidate them from voting. Purposely deceiving people into registering and the screwing up their forms or throwing them away if they aren't Republican. Trying to confuse likely Democratic voters with false election dates. Phone jamming, Voter caging and a playbook full of dirty tricks that we see every election. No one from the GOP has a right to lecture anyone about fair play and respect.
Excellent point, sir.

(116,464 posts)this is also the man whose running mate accused the Barack Obama of "palling around with terrorist."
In fact, Romney, his sons and his allies have aligned themselves with birthers.
McCain has no room to talk about respect.

(32,080 posts)Grandpa must have dozed off during the last debate, when Slick Willard essentially told the President to sit down and shut up so he could speak. But, he's a typical republican. They can dish it out by the truckload, but they can't take it themselves.

(5,810 posts)to lie repeatedly and to RUDELY over talk the President and eat up all the time by blathering on and on while the President politely tried to wait his turn. If the moderator had not stopped Romney, he would have talked the entire 90 minutes. That would have been his (Romney's) idea of a perfect debate. He does all the talking and Obama sits by passively listening to him drone on and on.
McCain is still smarting from the beat down he took in 2008 and just wanted one more chance to get his licks in on the President. It was petty and small minded of McNasty. He did not redeem himself at all and looked like he was just showing his sour grapes.
