I stubbed it hard on a wall that sticks out forming an entryway with full force.
I have it taped to my other toe and its resting on a cold pack now.
But the assault on my left foot wasen't done yet.
While I opened my freezer door to gather ice for the cold pack to help my left toe a unused pint of keto ice cream fell on my left foot
Now Im limping around the house wincing and Othello is giving me that concerned look .
Take care where you walk and don't put stuff in the freezer in a way that could fall out .

(11,612 posts)Sounds painful. I can somewhat relate. I've been a walking disaster this week. Take care of yourself.

(34,136 posts)I stubbed my toe badly November of last year. I didn't get it x-rayed until January this year. I broke the metatarsal - the first bone inside the foot - and splintered it into at least three pieces lengthwise.
By the time I made it to the doctor for it, it had started healing so there was nothing they could do. It did not heal straight and I have nerve pain from where the bones impinge on each other inside the ball of the foot. If I'd gone in sooner, they could have stabilized it so it healed straighter and would not have been as much trouble.
It still hurts if I walk much. Fortunately (?!) since I am recovering from an operation, I am not doing much walking right now and won't be for a bit longer.

(14,911 posts)Is it 20 mins on , 20 mins off with ice?
Luckily for me it's been a long time to ice some thing (usually a sprained ankle), which is why I can't quite remember. But I had a run for a while.
Did the stub toe. Luckily not broken, but the nail fell off at some point!
Good luck! 🤞🤞🤞

(32,688 posts)Girl friend broke her foot 2 years ago and it took a year to get better.
She got a knee scooter that got her off of it and that really helped.

(14,911 posts)Crutches for about 1+ wk till surgery. Thought I was going to go half crazy from fear with those things! Strong grip and shoulders but not that strong in arms.
Spent weeks in rehab nursing home. Good PT & OT people.
Boot, wheel chair, and quad cane. I was terrified of the knee scooter, so didn't request one.
About a year to full recovery. Luckily ou'd never know I'd had a problem!

(3,409 posts)leg. Be sure to put something soft, like felt or foam, between your toes before you tape them together to prevent skin breakdown. Hope it's not a bad fracture and you can dance in the New Year a few weeks down the road.

(9,186 posts)It was very painful to walk, and one evening, while walking upstairs, I accidentally kicked the riser.
I thought I was going to throw up. God it hurt.
Take care.

(22,100 posts)I have a big bruised knot on my ankle right now from taking a 7 pound frozen ham out of the freezer, and it dropped on my foot. I had left it in the grocery bag, and the bottom fell out.
Night before that, I tripped over one of the Pyr's in the dark, and did a header into the coffee table. Scared the hell out of him.
This isn't counting my big gelding crashing into me last week and knocking me to the ground.
But hey--I'm not accident prone!
Feel better soon!

The tendon was strained, I think.
Hope yours heals quickly.

(22,692 posts)I have broken both of my big toes, one of them twice, in exactly the same way. I filled a plastic trash bin with ice and kept my foot submerged as long as it helped.
I'm sorry you're having to deal with it but I think it's wonderful you have Othello there to nurse you back to health. ❤

(14,492 posts)everything takes soooo much longer to heal. I may have cracked the bone in my left little toe.
I've always walked with a wide stance and tend to turn my feet outward like a duck which exposes my outer toes to occasional fresh hell. Some say it's natural and a result of having broad shoulders.
At 74, I'm having to train myself to be much more careful with everything I do.....
Thanks for sharing and hope you heal quickly.....

(25,538 posts)Like the "Thanks, Obama" thing. Some troll would post a baseless complaint about Obama and we'd all blame Obama for our stomachaches and stubbed toes and so on.
