Then I get a text from my friend who’s husband works at Cleveland Clinic last night!

sent millions of dollars in Covid funds back to Washington a few weeks ago. Now we need assistance to keep hospitals operating and for more vaccination sites. 42. I hear ya. I am in a blue state, near a blue city,

but my own small city is purple, surrounded by very deep red rural areas. Our local infection rate is currently over 11%. And that's before the Christmas spike and before omicron arrives. Our hospital has 50 covid patients as of the latest statistics this week. There are only 2 hospitals in the entire county. Considering the high infection rate, our deaths have been relatively low but have been steadily increasing over the past few weeks.

And yet, in many stores and other public places, almost no one wears a mask. Churches have services without mask requirements and with the congregations and choirs singing. Traditional Christmas activities are resuming this year, including 2 indoor Christmas concerts and a Christmas parade where spectators .crowd together, shoulder to shoulder for a couple hours.

The vaccination rate here is 53%. What more could go wrong?

Omicron causes more breakthrough infections than previous variants. People who have natural immunity from previous infections of covid can get reinfected with omicron. Seniors over 60 are among the most vulnerable. The safest protection now is to be fully vaxxed and boosted PLUS wear a mask and maintain social distance.

TFG is well over 60. His general health is not good. His previous infection will not protect him. He notoriously hates masks and will not wear one. Since he is no longer president, immediate access to Walter Reed with free, top level medical care is not a likely option for him. He lives in a state where masks are actually forbidden in some places.

The holiday season and its parties are here. What could possibly go wrong for TFG?

He might yet give us another cause for dancing in the streets.
