(8,396 posts). . . both to Fox News in its very ambitious relocation project (those pyramids will require one hell of a U-Haul), and to Iran in getting around or across Egypt -- wherever Fox decides to move it!

(135,425 posts)I think he was confusing his talking points, and mixed up Iran and Iraq. Before Iran marched through Syria, they'd have to march OVER the Zagros and through Iraq! That's a pretty dismal slog if you ask me!
Iraq has very little access to the sea; they have almost no Gulf littoral, and the Shatt-al-Arab waterway is still iffy--between the silting over from the years of poor/no maintenance AND the shit that was sunk in the thing--it's a tough slog to get up that way with any tonnage at all--you want your NOTAMS up to date and even at that you're taking chances.
Regardless of who wants to march to the Med, you've still got Turkey up top and Israel down below to pinch off any potential misadventures using Syria's or Lebanon's littorals.
He really stuck it in the grinder with that dumbass comment, IMO.

(13,776 posts)is that it was so gratuitous. It was a little factoid that he'd memorized, like the populations of various countries, to shove into his answers as if all that information were just naturally there. And even though he shoved it in there to show off or whatever, it was WRONG.
Either he can't read a map, or he is relying on foreign policy advisers who not only suck but can't read a map.
