Texas prison workers are NOT happy about @GovAbbott's decision to take another $4 million the prison budget for election audits.

The union president called it “irresponsible,” highlighting record-high staff shortages in prisons that he says are still COVID hot spots.
This, of course, comes after the governor already borrowed several million earlier in the year from future TDCJ budgets to help fund his border wall

This is astonishing. The food is already unidentifiable slop, the units are so understaffed they don't always notice when inmates die, there is no air conditioning, the sewage backs up, the locks don't work, and they want to cut more -- which will only make conditions worse.

2. Will anyone dare say that Gov. Abbott is putting Texans at risk?

Ha, ha, ha, no. Everyone will gush over his financial acumen, and if there are any riots at the prisons, Abbott will just mobilize the National Guard and start squirting lead. That will keep the "Lock 'em up" crowd happy, encourage the gun nutters itching to see more people gunned down, and temporarily sate the blood lust of a significant segment of the Texas populace. Cruelty and inhumanity are just side perks.
