(17,312 posts)I was sure Beto was going to win against cruz. All the polls showed it. But alas not even that close.
ColinC
(9,012 posts)But still came within 2% on election day. He did better than any Democrat was expected to do. And the same will happen with Abbott. Doesn't mean he will win, but he is reminding the republican party that they don't alhave a free pass in Texas anymore.

(3,803 posts)and never saw any polling data that showed O'Rourke in front, let alone to the amount that "all polls showed it".
Thanks in advance!

(17,312 posts)Google is very easy. I did the work for you. But you can take over and find others.

(3,803 posts)'almost all'

(3,803 posts)The phrase 'almost all' was never given any substantiation, so until given any, I'll see it as an empty assertion.

(17,312 posts)Appreciation goes a long way. Have a great day! I feel freaking great helping out a fellow DUer. You made my day!
Torchlight
(3,803 posts)But to save time, I'll go with your insistence 'almost all polls' said O'Rourke was ahead as just another thing someone says.

(17,130 posts)Not because of any past polling but because its Texas and theres still more than enough Trump style knuckle draggers there to give Abbott the win.

(34,857 posts)The final average had him losing by seven. He lost by just three:

(9,012 posts)Than any democrat against any sitting republican in the last few decades. I don't know that he would win, but he would certainly do very well.
In It to Win It
(8,713 posts)I hope that he can gin the same energy that his 2018 campaign did. Ted Cruz barely eeked out that victory.
Beto made his campaign about Texas, and he didn't need to bring up Trump at all. His opponent was the boogeyman. That's the kinda campaign we need. It's still gonna be an uphill battle but Beto's the best shot.

Metaphorical
(1,832 posts)I think if anyone has a chance against Abbott, Beto does.

(32,710 posts)It's that simple.
And without any 1877 compromise type of agreements.

(29,337 posts)Beto's stance on guns was going to lose the election
for him.
I was thinking McConaughey would be better than
Abbott.
It's Texas, y'all.

(13,244 posts)we have no idea what he's running as. I hope he meant it when he said if Beto runs that he w back out.

(11,713 posts)Seems like a frighteningly familiar scenario.

(29,337 posts)Beto would be better than both of them... but I'm
worried that his stance on guns will cost him the
election.
It's Texas.

(27,751 posts)I hate these polls because Beto is not running....
