The 2nd amendment allows you to purchase and own a firearm. That doesn't give you the right to use that shoot at signs advocating for a political candidate you dislike intensely, in this case Barack Obama. From Lubbock Texas:
This is naked, raw terrorism. Because nothing sends a message that people shouldn't exercise their first amendment rights of free speech, particularly political speech, than bullet holes through through their signs supporting a political candidate, any candidate. We've already seen a non-political business owner receive death threats for refusing to allow the Romney campaign to use his restaurant for a campaign event. We have seen bullets fired through the Denver office of the Obama campaign. How soon before someone is wounded or killed by someone for standing at on a street corner with an Obama sign or knocking on someone's door distributing campaign literature? All I know is that we are getting awfully close to crossing the boundary into territory that no one with any conscience at all would find agreeable.
Daily, our airwaves and the internet are inundated with messages of hate, racism and even the advocacy of violence from conservative politicians, conservative media and anyone with a Twitter account, a Facebook page or the ability to post to a comment to a website who repeats the offensive propaganda that is now taken as holy writ by a not insignificant portion of our population. Don't tell me that this mass of negative, demeaning, hateful and often inaccurate and false "speech" by partisans on the right does not stoke the fever of individuals who then take matters into their own hands. Don't even try. When you, my conservative and Republican brethren persist in stoking the flames of hate and outrage, sooner or later, it has consequences. For life, for liberty, for the pursuit of happiness.
Stop going down this path.
And by god, stop brazenly lying about what's happening:

(16,230 posts)That makes my blood boil, and it's not isolated.
I posted a picture of a guy at a Romney rally wearing a "Put the White Back in the White House" shirt on a different message board. A few of the right-wingers there insisted that the guy had to be a Democratic plant trying to make Republicans look bad. They insisted that that had to be the case.
Sometimes I can't tell if they're sincere, or just trying to cover up the hatred in their party.

Why a Romney win would be bad for America
It's not necessarily about ideology: It's about the destructive opposition party behavior his victory would reward

(114 posts)that the Far Reich media are advocating violence. Thank you for posting this.
We need to keep highlighting this so when something happens we will be able to prove they encouraged it to happen.
THEY KNOW there are a lot of weak-minded people out there who listen to them and take these things they say as marching orders.
If anyone is killed, the blood will be on their Far Reich Republican Teabag Brainwashing Pundit hands.

It wouldn't be hard to set up a game cam to catch them.
I'm surprised no one has yet.

Seriously though, there isn't a better disposable target holder in the world. I pick them up by the dozen after the elections and have a good supply all year.
I'd be hurt if anyone called me a terrorist because of it though.

(1 post)The real problem was not the sign being shot up by a shotgun. The real brouhaha were the two large Democratic signs that had the word n***ger written all over them. We had a news conferenc,... the video is at KJTV and KLBK Tv in Lubbock... good footage of reaction. This is called racism by some. I call it the REAL REPUBLICAN PARTY. Believe me, this is what they're all about down here, and all across the Southland, and they need to be called out so the wavering voters outside the south will know what they're voting for if they vote for Romney.

This is how it's done:
Generic Other
(28,979 posts)the past 4 years and this election cycle have really given them a taste of what the racism a man of Obama's stature puts up with everyday in America. Many African Americans shrug it off and ask what's new. It is the white Democrats who seem angriest. I suspect it's because they have never experienced racism firsthand in the same way Obama has.
Racism by proxy. Ugly. Maddening. Infuriating.

(28,979 posts)and very bitter on the tongue. A daily lesson. Especially for those who naively believed race was not as much an issue for Americans anymore.
Certainly, I have never witnessed such a constant barrage of blatant and stupid racism as Obama has endured. I have been angry for his sake. And even at times at him for not punching back harder.
But mostly I have been shocked at the extent of the racism that thrives in this country.
For some reason, not many people are willing to have this discussion in the media.

(7,887 posts)Having lived in America all these years as a black man and as President for 4 years and not having DECKED one of these supremicist lunatics shows considerable restraint and intelligence.
As a white person who believes racism is wrong, HELL YES I am more angry than my minority counterparts, because I CAN BE, because I SHOULD BE.
This is like *ush going after Iraq for Osama Bin Laden when he KNEW the reason was bogus. HE KILLED PEOPLE IN MY NAME.
These white a**holes make a mockery of everything that decent white folks have tried to do for hundreds of years. They TIE ME to racism and murder and hatred by having the same color of skin I do and thinking that makes them above the law. NOT IN MY NAME!!
