Republicans run on banning all abortions, increasing the availability of guns, and cutting taxes on the rich, none of are popular. They win anyway. Why?

(43,619 posts)In 2016 it was same-sex bathrooms. In 2020 defund the police. Today it's mask mandates. We should have called it mask protection to show how it helps each of us. Instead it became about an evil government making each of us mask up.
The solution to our problems may be to simply attack better. We need to brand the GOP for what it is. Corruption and violence are still unpopular.

(23,237 posts)They make it really hard for people in urban areas to vote and super easy for rural folks to vote. They gerrymander the hell out of the districts and if that doesn't work - they just scream fraud & in 2 states no Democrat can ever win because Repug legislatures can overthrow any election with zero proof required. They are nothing but frauds and cheaters & destroyers.

It is easier to move people through fear and anger than to move them to follow dreams of a better world for all.

I don't know why Crooks & Liars changed it. It's not about "voters" in general thinking Democrats are the antichrist, and therefore popularism won't help Democrats; it's about Republicans and their existing voters, who have been brainwashed into thinking that the Democrats are the antichrist, so Republicans don't have to bother with popularist (or popular) policies or messages.
