(17,885 posts)Jones obtained a permit through a fake front organization for a rally at the East side of the Capitol, which never occurred, instead the crowd that gathered for the rally breached the barriers and entered the Capitol.
The woman named in the CNN article was associated with them.
Yes, I get that this may be the first wave of several waves of subpoenas targeting the organizers of the insurrection- just wanted to speak out on two of the most notorious names among that group.

(69,352 posts)...is that Alexander & Jones sure out to be on that list.
Not have to, or better be, but it sure seems appropriate.
And, if Alexander is on that list, he might be hard to serve. He seems pretty slippery & shadowy.

(2,591 posts)in the background, or are we waiting for public hearings at some point in the future? Just wondering what the process is.

(18,486 posts)They're being subpoenaed to testify. But not via deposition. A deposition is giving testimony under oath but is different than giving testimony at a hearing. Among other things, depositions are not conducted in public (although the transcript can be made public).
People who are giving testimony via deposition are probably testifying voluntarily and are giving background information to the committee.

(2,591 posts)story is. Try to get some facts, but possibly see where their testimony changes when under oath. Am I getting warmer?
BTW, thanks for your replies. I get the sense youre a lawyer and likely know what youre talking about.

(18,486 posts)Some of the interviews/depositions are of friendly witnesses to give the committee important information - although one of the reasons they do it under oath is to pin them down (or just capture the facts whole still fresh in their minds).
But they don't take depositions of all witnesses. They hear from many of them - particularly those under subpoena - for the first time when they testify in the hearings.

Also the stock market speculators, the con artists, the snake oil and MLM marketeers, the politicians, the advertisers, the MSM.
(This list could keep on going so I'll stop.)
