Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsCan the FBI investigate who was behind those 15,000 Haitians from Brazil who all showed up @ ...
.... little border crossing @ Del Rio in Texas and Ciudad Acuña, Mexico?
Who paid for it?
Who arranged the transportation?
Who set up the facebook and other apps telling them (the Haitians) where to go?
Can they interview some of the Haitians?
Do we have any camera or video images of the transportation of the Haitians?
What was Jason Miller doing in Brazil prior to the Haitians leaving for America?
Can they interview Jason Miller and get his electronic devices?
Who coordinated it?
Was Fox News involved?
Were any republican law makers involved?
Was this an organized effort to hurt the POTUS?
Was this an act of criminal sedation?
Was Donny Trump himself involved?
This thing stinks on ice.

NPR is going full blast on trashing Biden over the "border crisis" and questioning his competence as president. They are apparently fully bought by their corporate sponsors. I have a solicitation letter from my regional NPR station. I will return it without a donation pledge, but with a written response on why I will not donate. I want them to drop coverage of the programs that are pushing this narrative.

theyre using rw talk radio in india, brazil, probably mexico and other countries
people can call shows from the kremlin
.. for global warming and covid denial, anti-immigration bullshit etc .its like voice of america in reverse now. voice of Putin and the FBI should be investigating putin's use of rw radio since at least 2008 when limbaugh would not support mccainn until minutes after palin was announced - manafort was mccains co-chair
RW media, with radio in those countries (including fox which broadcasts internationally), tells these refugees that the new dem president obama or biden wants them to come to the border, has opened the border, doesnt want to stop invading refugees, will give them free stuff and great jobs, and then rw blowhards scream in this country were being invaded by people in caravans with ebola, covid, so they can vote illegally for dems (replacement theory) and we need walls etc.
we will never be able to have a fact-based national discussion on immigration as long as democrat and the left ignore rw radio

But again, he sees that money as his. He's look to the real billionaires to foot the bill for this.

Many came from Chile, etc. The claims in those tweets from that (and others) OP (at that link) stating that they ALL came from Brasil are ludicrous.
Also, some who did start from there had already left long before January 2021.

The Brazilian government made humanitarian visas available to Haitians, and there was significant demand for construction workers leading up to the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Once those jobs started to dry up, many Haitians moved on to Chile, Bolter said.
The Associated Press reported that about 150,000 Haitians went to Chile from 2014 to 2018 and found work as street vendors, janitors and construction workers.
However, since 2018, the Chilean government has made it more difficult for Haitians to get work visas.
"The cost of living in Chile is high, so it can be particularly difficult to get by with a poorly paying job," Bolter said. "Many Haitians experience racial discrimination in jobs and housing in Chile as well. Haitians who stayed in Brazil have continued to struggle economically, and have also faced racial discrimination, as well as crime and insecurity."

Many Haitians who traveled from Chile will now pass through Houston
https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/immigration/article/How-Chile-s-treatment-of-Haitian-migrants-16474511.php
Thousands of Haitian migrants are waiting under the international bridge in Del Rio, with hopes theyll be granted entry in the United States where they can seek a more safe and prosperous life.
But the federal government has been moving large numbers of those arriving at the border to other locations to be processed and flying many back to Haiti. Several dozen arrived in Houston on buses Monday night and Tuesday and are staying at a shelter owned by the National Association of Christian Churches and being operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Most will stay no longer than 24 hours at the shelter, which is a transfer center. Officials said 2,000 to 3,000 more are expected to pass through the shelter in the next week or so.
Though recent unrest has caused the exodus of some Haitians from their homes, many Haitians arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border are coming after having lived in South America, especially Chile.

(2,350 posts)"A lot of them came to Mexico with the hope of being able to live in Mexico," Jacqueline Charles, the Miami Heralds Caribbean correspondent, told NPRs "All Things Considered." "But they've had a very difficult time getting work permits, finding jobs, even finding a place to live. And so this is a community that, you know, operates through word of mouth. So people started saying, hey, Ciudad Acuña is open. This port is open."

(54,370 posts)To get 15000 people from a Caribbean island to the Brazilian mainland is an immense undertaking. Either 50 long haul airliners or a couple dozen moderately sized ships. Then the whole group to one spot on the Texas-Mexican border?
This was neither spontaneous nor disorganized. Quite the contrary. It was well-coordinated with a few million dollars worth of prior planning. Instead of donating the money to charitable organizations on the ground in Haiti, it was spent in a deliberate scheme to create one more contrived headache for the Biden administration. Just look at a map, for Petes sake!! This cost a lot of money to put together. Follow it, and get some answers, please.
Botany
(70,502 posts)... Haitians who wound up @ that one spot on the Tex/Mex border had been in Chile before they
moved onto Brazil. They had been promised good jobs and pay in Chile when they were still in
Haiti so they went there but those jobs and pay fell through and they were exploited there. One
thing we can be sure of is that they did not get up to the border from Chile/Brazil with out some
help.

There were also Haitians residing in Mexico prior to this migration and they have been migrating to Mexico from Brazil since 2016
Tens of thousands of Haitians fled after a devastating earthquake in 2010 to settle in South America. After jobs dried up from the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, many came to Tijuana. President Barack Obama initially allowed them in the U.S. on humanitarian grounds but abruptly began flying them back to Haiti, leaving many stranded on the Mexican border.

(10,842 posts)"I left my country on 26 August 2014," explains Mr Janvier, his three-year-old son absentmindedly playing with a toy car on the restaurant floor.
Having spent several years in Brazil, he moved to Chile, met his wife and they had a child. But as they could not move beyond the lowest social rung in South America, they decided the time was right to attempt to reach the US.
"We have been through eleven different countries to get here. Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador..." Mr Janvier begins to name them in order, describing an extraordinary journey on foot and by bus, that traverses the Andes and the Amazonian Basin.
As he took his young family across the Darien Gap, seven days through the dense jungle between Colombia and Panama, Mr Janvier says he saw the dead bodies of other Haitian and Cuban migrants.
He describes being robbed of what little he had by "bandits", most likely members of violent drug and people-smuggling gangs which operate in the region. He said some of the women were raped, although his wife managed to hide with the child when the gang appeared.
