"Van life" youtuber returns from road trip without fiance. Wont speak to police; UPDATE _ STATEMENT!

Last edited Tue Sep 14, 2021, 08:29 PM - Edit history (1)

Here is his statement:

The fiancé of the New York woman who went missing on a cross-country road trip has broken his silence on her mysterious disappearance, saying that he hopes she gets reunited with her family.

Brian Laundrie's attorney issued the statement about 22-year-old Gabby Petito on Tuesday.

"This is understandably an extremely difficult time for both the Petito family and the Laundrie family," Steven Bertolino, the lawyer representing the Laundrie family, said in a statement to Insider. "It is our understanding that a search has been organized for Miss Petito in or near Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming."

"On behalf of the Laundrie family, it is our hope that the search for Miss Petito is successful and that Miss Petito is re-united with her family," the statement continued. "On the advice of counsel, the Laundrie family is remaining in the background at this juncture and will have no further comment."

Police in Florida were seen dropping off a pink envelope at the home of missing Long Island woman Gabby Petito‘s boyfriend — as authorities say they’re preparing for the possibility that something "sinister" has happened to her.

Petito, 22, was last known to be in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park in late August while on a cross-country road trip in a converted van with her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, who has since returned to his home in North Port, Florida.

North Port police said they attempted to talk to Laundrie, but were rebuffed by his parents, who put them in touch with his attorney.

"We talked with his parents, who did not make him available," North Port police spokesman Josh Taylor told The Post.

Hiding behind mommy and daddy? Lack of consequences and entitlement may be a large part of how this all came to pass to begin with.

I hope he rots in jail till he's drooling on himself but the life of a woman isn't really worth much in this country.

Too many people get railroaded into pleading guilty, even to things they did not do. Juries can get it wrong.

I have to say, however, that young women go "missing" every day. Many of these stories do end tragically. Young women and girls of color are largely overlooked when they vanish.

Here, again, is another pretty young blonde woman who has captured the attention of the media. Her story is bound to glue eyeballs to news programming and boost ratings.

I truly hope she turns up in an Idaho diner waiting for the fuss to blow over. If her boyfriend is responsible for a crime, let law enforcement work the process without the glare of klieg lights. Let's also support the families of those missing young women who don't fit the "great story" profile.

young, conventionally attractive, white women (especially blonde ones) are considered more valuable.

Fat or unattractive women don't get press either, if they are missing, the assumption is that they aren't worth anything.

Poor women are less likely to get press than women from middle or upper class families.

Black, Indigenous....pretty much every form of not-white, have little value to the media either, because they view everything through the lens of 'what white people care about'.

ETA: Men fit into the same categories: really conventionally attractive, well off young men get stories told. The middle aged guy? The fat guy? The socially awkward guy? The non photogenic guy? The media doesn't have time for them either.

Our society is changing, but television in particular is generally a reactive medium and as such, won't change as quickly as society does.

It all sucks and it is stupid, but that's just another facet of how our media works.

Young person in college valued more by media.

Years ago, two young women went missing and were found safely. Some mentioned that the black young woman was lucky she went missing with young white woman

Sounds like his family has money to hide behind a lawyer. He is sure acting like something bad happened.
