OSHA Deputy Asst Secretary 2009-2017. Former Congressional, AFSCME and Chemical Safety Board staff.
USPS is not exempt. USPS workers are considered to be private sector employees for legal purposes. This means they will be covered under the #OSHA vaccine/testing mandate, rather than the federal employee mandate.

(14,971 posts)2. He'll be fined $14,000 for each vaccine/ testing violation.

(47,014 posts)4. I wonder if the fines come out of his salary or from the Post Office budget.
You know Dejoy is going to try to get around all of this.

Can his ass - its about time.

(47,014 posts)6. Actually I wondered if this gives Joe an opportunity to fire the asshat.
Joes make a federal order, Dejoy defies it, Biden can then fire him for blatant cause.

(13,582 posts)7. That's what I think too.

(47,014 posts)8. I don't think you want to mess around too much with Joe Biden.
You and I both picked up the same vibes about Dejoy.

(13,582 posts)9. Exactly.
Our President means business - its one of the things I like most about him. I just hope Manchin and Sinema is paying attention too.

(47,014 posts)10. I like to think he is keeping both of them on a short leash.
Or he will be able to get two GOP senators to vote on the bills and teach them some lessons.
ETA Yes I like that Joe kicks ass and takes names. He is fearless.

In his article about the vaccine or test mandate, he wrote what an anonymous White House official had told him, that USPS employees would not be subject to the requirement.
He's been getting a lot of blowback on this, and he's looking into it.

Quickie write up of the USPS exemption. I've asked WH sources for more info on why USPS was cut out of the executive order. Will update if/when I get more.
