He insisted that Democrats had low expectations since the "promises" of 2008 were not fulfilled and thus they were "unenthusiastic". And kept emphasizing that this was why the polls were "so close".
He was basically right on the edge of doing RW talking points. The other guy there was some strategist for Boner and someone else (I forgot who - may have been Ryan?)...

(9,612 posts)The President and the Senate leadership alienated the Democratic base throughout the first two years of the Administration, and slews of disaffected liberals stayed home in 2010. That lost Joe Sestak a chance at Specter's Senate seat.
We're rebuilding the coalition now, but enthusiasm is still not where it needs to be. We need to push the ambivalent back firmly into the Democratic column and get them to the polls.
