Remember Trump's surprise withdrawal from Syria?

We had troops there helping the Kurds who had PROVEN their willingness to fight. Trump just yanked our folks out with no notice, leaving entire bases there for the Russians and Turks to come in and occupy. Kurds were murdered in the streets, and their entire community destroyed.

Somehow THAT was fine with the MAGAts.

But now that we're ending a 20-year war, allying with people who have no will to fight the Taliban, and sending troops to rescue those who can and want to get out. Well, obviously that's an impeachable offense.

Hypocrisy, thy name is MAGAt.

and I do remember being upset over it because the Kurds were our allies. We had about a 1000 special ops and no one needed to be moved out except our 1000 ops who were sent to Iraq.
The problem today is we have thousands and thousands of people to invacuate

Who wants to be the final KIA in a war zone under evacuation?

Step right up, any volunteers?

It was an unwinnable exit-less war. There were no goals or cogent strategy.

20 years... we ended the conflict fighting the CHILDREN of the people we fought earlier.

Obviously working hard and well in the red states.

What are the USSR strategies for winning the 2022 and 2024 national elections?
? right-wing media (fox, newsmax, etc.) - both-sider media (msnbc, cnn)
? reving up the us-vs- them and making sure everyone is armed and hair-triggered
? gerrymandering and making it harder for non-repugs to vote
? throwing lots of rubles (and counterfeit $$s) at the rubes and politicians and lobbyists
? instigating chaos and dissension in the whole world

Don't pick just one. And add to the list. They are master craftsmen.

the Kurds were slaughtered by Turkish paramilitaries. There just weren't any TV cameras to video it. Meanwhile, Erdogan and Putin were laughing their asses off at the idiot who just handed them everything they want.

Instead, one might say "no will to be hung out to dry" by Trump's negotiations with the Taliban and the
consequences of that.

One can be mad that Biden is being attacked, but effectively telling the Afghans to go out and cover our retreat
is a bit cowardly if their air support and logistics have been diminished to the point that their soldiers cannot reasonably remain in the fight and hope to live. It's true we cannot sort out their political problems, but we also cannot just say, "Go, die: we have to leave now."

This is not to mention the demoralizing effect of Trump's negotiating with the Taliban and leaving the Afghan government completely out of the negotiations - if one even thinks negotiating with the Taliban is appropriate.

The best lesson for the Biden Administration from this is that all remaining Trump policies should be swiftly discarded and any lingering Trump appointees should be quickly shown the door. Out of sheer caution, nothing that Trump has done should be left standing: by definition, it could be done better if redone or rethought. (Of course, keep the vaccines. Trump likes claiming credit, but that's just because Trump is all about PR. He cannot do substance - note his endless string of bankruptcies.)
