...flew down to Florida to check on their winter condo.
They had to take their car in for repairs while they were there.
The mechanic asked why they were wearing masks, and said that if anyone tried to get him to mask or get vaccinated he'd pull out his gun.
They've decided to sell the condo.

(7,678 posts)Mom had to go down there for a few days a couple of weeks ago to clear out personal items because they hadn't been there since March of last year. She's still freaking out about 1) how good her timing accidentally turned out to be and 2) how few people wore masks. But I guess Pompano Beach isn't Montreal.

(58,785 posts)vacation condos in FL as they get older anyway. Trading Canada's winters for Florida's is no longer worth it to people arrived at a time of life when they spend more and more time indoors and neither shovel their own snow nor do much swimming or bicycling. And when their snowbird friends are increasingly frequently selling their condos to stay home close to family and physicians.
I hope this couple took their car elsewhere and also that they used NextDoor or whatever to inform their community about this asshole. I might let off some of these increasingly embattled and defensive idiots, but not this one.
Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
