(23,371 posts)I keep hearing Gaetz is having a bad day and other nonsense. But, he continues to tour with Q-Anon Margie hosting ridiculous rallies. I dont think he will be held accountable, unfortunately. So frustrating.

(15,087 posts)The most conventional explanation is that the DoJ is being very careful and thorough when it comes to investigations dealing either with the legislative or judicial branches.
A while back, they cut a deal with his sidekick. Then in July the doj agreed to recommend a postponement in his sentencing because he was still cooperating and they needed his help.
They also leaked that a charging decision would come in July, but that was before greenburgh somehow sweetened the pot.
But what they haven't done is leak that there will be no charges, or leak that there will be some major delay.
When you look at where all the rabbit holes are in this case, it's clear it must be a hell of a mess to document for a court. Pieces of it involve the very highest levels of gop fundraising in FL. It potentially involves dozens of lawmakers, both federal and state.
So the best explanation is they are working as fast as they can, but that it isn't baked yet.

(4,044 posts)Meanwhile, Trump keeps on raising money - untouched after numerous allegations of sexual misconduct . Did Garland give him a get out of jail free card? What about Maxwell?
Yes, I know. The wheels of justice (?) move slowly, but personally, Id really like to see some justice administered.

(15,087 posts)Now you could have asked what about rudy? He is not in any branch of gov't. He has had his electronics seized, as have his associates, and he seems to know he is the target of an investigation (at least that is what he has said).
He hasn't been charged yet either. And his case seems open/shut. But in reality there is a special judge who has been appointed to review the evidence seized and separate anything that is subject to client privilege.
So yeah, it's frustrating. But imagine how it is eating up the targets.......

That covers it. He will never be arrested unless he crosses one of his own.
Very few of them ever face consequences for their actions.
Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
